Anyone done EMM at MK recently?

We ended up not arriving at our resort until 11 pm last night but we somehow made it to EMM this morning at 7:50! However there was some delay and we didn't enter the park until a few minutes after 8...

I tried not to force my ideal plan on the 5 year old, so since she was hungry the moment she woke up--we headed straight to breakfast and were the first there! I tried to make it quick but hone/stly we were all pretty hungry so we ended up spending about 15-20 minutes including a bathroom break. The food was delicious! Coffee was okay. ;) I warned everyone not to fill up and we were going to come back after some rides! The cast members were wonderful and even danced with my little ballerina! Yep, no urgency from princess haha.

We then road 7DMT 5 times in a row and figured out we like back row best. :) As reported, we had to exit but it let us loop straight back into the fb line.

We road Winnie the Pooh once, Peter Pan once, 7DMT again right ahead of the rope drop crowd (about 8:50-55). We quickly jumped into the FP line right at 9 and the posted time was already 45 minutes--tp estimated actual wait at 25 minutes but 60 minute posted/52 expected not long after we exited.

Afterwards we road the carousel, met Tiana and Rapunzel, little Mermaid ride and met Ariel, road teacups and iasw before by 9:45 when we headed back for more breakfast! They didn't clean up until around 10:15 and asked if we wanted to grab anything else before they did!

I'm sure we could have gotten even more rides in if we tried. Absolutely magical time, and sunshine until about 2 pm! ♡

HA, I felt like a glutton thinking about eating 2x, glad its not just me!

Yeah, it did feel like there needed to be at least one more "special" thing for EMM - a special charachter would be nice. The hour (which is really just 45-50 mins) is just so dang quick! But still, well worth it in our book!
Why just 45-50 minutes?

Why just 45-50 minutes?

They let you in around 7:45 ish. Roughly a 5-10 min walk back to Fantasyland, maybe longer if you stop for photographs (which is hard not to do with a relatively empty main street & hub!). So that puts you in Fantasyland around 8ish, maybe a touch before. The regular rope drop crowd will show up around 8:50ish. I use "ish" a lot because a minute or two here/there can sway things.

If they want to let RD crowd in early most days, thats fine, but I dont think its right to do it on EMM days when people are paying for the privilege of having FL to themselves!

EMM attendees still get to use the FP queues for their rides until 9:00am. I didn't personally have any issue with people filling the SB queue while I rode 7DMT the last time or two. I don't think it affected the number of rides I was able to get.

I did it on 9/20. Loved it. Road 7DMT about 6 times and then I actually started to feel a little sick. (?? maybe it was the heat?) Then did Peter Pan twice and Pooh once. Did Merida's meet for RD which was great because that line builds quickly. Then headed off to breakfast around 9:30.

Never felt rushed or crowded. Breakfast was delicious and peaceful! Could have gotten many more rides in had I not felt a little woozy...

I'm planning to do it again when I go back in November. Money well spent. 3 pretty popular rides (even Pooh can get long lines) PLUS a rope drop advantage PLUS breakfast = very well worth it IMO.

Those of you who did EMM already, is it kind of a once per trip sort of thing or do you think it would be enjoyable more than once in a single vacation? I'm awfully tempted to do it more than once (we would have 4 opportunities at MK and 1 at DHS) but I'll be waiting to book them until after we do the first one. I just wanted to get a feel from those who have done it what your preference would have been.

I'd certainly consider doing it more than once in a trip - definitely if it was once at MK and once at DHS (especially since we haven't done the one at DHS yet), but possibly even for a repeat at the same park. For me, it would just depend on the circumstances of the trip. For example, I have a trip coming up in January with several generations, which includes some first-time visitors. For that trip, I wouldn't do it more than once because there are so many other experiences we want to fit in during the week we'll be there. If it's offered during the next week-long-ish trip I take with just my DH and DD, though, I'd definitely do it more than once - even if it was just a solo morning for myself on one or more of those days. ;) (On our last trip, my DH and DD spent lazy mornings by the pool while I headed out for AM EMH - so I could see doing the same for EMM.)

I would probably only do once at each park in a single trip. The way they are designed, you can do everything offered, and multiple times, by just going once. If I had lots of days, I would probably splurge on a tour, fancy meal, or something else rather than do the same EMM twice.

These are excellent points! We may end up doing 2 Christmas parties and just one EMM. We'll see what the family thinks after we've done both. We skimped on our resort a bit and we're ending up with a bit of extra cash here at the end so I'm trying to decide what might be worth it and what might not.

We did the EMM on 10/2 it was AMAZING!! We rode the 7D 6 times, Winnie 3 times and PeterPan 3 times, we did haunted mansion at 9 with no wait then small world and then ate the breakfast buffet, which was great. My ds who is 5 loved it, best money spent on our trip.

We have EMM scheduled for our upcoming trip. Is the balcony open at Pinocchio's? It would be fun to dine up there with a view.

Hi! During our trip in Dec 2016, one of our MK days (MVMCP day, and we are fine with that) will also have EMM. Is this a reason to avoid the park as with EMH (if you are staying off site)? We are rope droppers. So making an effort to be there early, only to find an already crowded park would be a bummer.

I ask because I don't know if EMM brings a lot of people to the park pre official opening.

TIA!

No, EMM doesn't bring many people into the park at all. I believe estimates are around 250 people at most.
