Anyone Done a Magical Gathering?

I was looking at the magical gatherign at the Disney Site:

Magical Gatherings

Some of them look kind of interesting, like the morning gathering and the VIP Safari trip. We are only a family of 4 (Myself, Husband, 3 Year Old B/G Twins). Is it possible to just get together with another family to qualify as part of a magical gathering? It look like you only need 8 people. I am curious how big the magical gatherings are, since it looks like they put all of the gatherings together.

Quite a few Disers have participated in these events. As well as join up to make the magic # for the event. I'll send this back to the top and see if someone can give you more info that has done one.

I had a MG last June, and we did the Pirates Cruise and Ice Cream Social. I think there were maybe 5-6 MG groups at the Social at CR and then we boarded the Pirates Cruise. I believe on that there were 3 MGs to a boat. I thought it was fun, I enjoyed Pirate Jim who captained our boat. He had trivia and gave out prizes (eye patches and telescopes with the Skull and Crossbones) and then we docked to watch Wishes with the music pipped in.

My MG was actually all family, so I don't know about getting together with another group. Oh, and we got a special MG Fireworks Cruise pin.
