Anyone doing the Wine & Dine Half Marathon??

Congrats! Talk to your Dr. and see what they say about you doing this. You might be able to make it as far as Animal Kingdom. If you decide not to do any of the race, give Disney a call and see what they can do for you.

Maybe you can walk the first few miles until you get swept? :) It'd be fun to get pictures on the course with a 7 month belly!

Congrats!!!

That's what I was thinking. Since the race is already paid for, I could just go as far as I'm comfortable and then let the sweeper take me. I don't know if there are rules against it or anything though.

If you can walk a 16 min/mile, I don't see why you'd be swept at all.

Hey guys! DH and I originally signed up to each do the half marathon, but it looks like he'll be running alone since I'm pregnant!

I don't think there's any way to get my my registration fee, but I'm wondering how to handle things from here forward. I still would like to attend the reception (and I've already paid for it) but will I have to start the race and get picked up by the sweeper?

I'm wondering if maybe I SHOULD start the race and just do a couple of miles. I'd hate to miss it, but I know I won't be able to make it the full 13 while 7 months pregnant.

Congratulations! :dance3: How wonderful!

Although I was not a runner during my pregnancies, I'm guessing that at 7 months walking a 13 mile race might be less than comfortable. You might want to consider walking the half relay though? :confused3
I would talk to some other active Moms and see how they felt at 7 months. You'll be starting to get big, have increased blood (thus making your heart feel like it's pounding) and restricted lung capacity. Your hips may also begin opening and that puts additional strain on ligaments in the hip area.
Don't get me wrong though - I'm not discouraging you from doing it. I say do it if you can!

Congrats! If you decide not to do any of the race, give Disney a call and see what they can do for you.

I would bet that Disney might find a way to either convert your registration to the half relay (or 5K), refund or convert to just a finish line party ticket.

This is my third pregnancy, so I already know that by 7 months, I'll be more waddling than walking and it would be difficult to maintain that pace!

I'm also thinking that I wouldn't be able to make it the 13 miles.. a couple of miles is doable, especially if I'm still in good form, no preterm labor or anything like that, but by 7 months I know I'll be doing the pregnancy waddle.

I'm going to try to call WDW today to find out what my options are. I'm curious if they have restrictions for pregnancy anyway. I'd imagine that having pregnant women do a long walk/race might open them to extra liability, so I may need a doctor's note or something.

The good news is, I'm definitely attending WDW that weekend no matter what!

Just joining in on the thread. It was suggested that I might post here and get a partner for the this race!

I am currently running about a 12 min. or so mile, and will be running my first 5k in about a week. I am training for a half in November, but don't really want to run the whole thing by myself, as I really want to do the local half, and don't think my body can take both!

Anyway, if anyone is interested, please let me know! I am wanting to do the race for fitness and mostly FUN!!!! I will be arriving on race day, and will get my family settled in, have dinner at Chef Mickey's, then I will head over to the race.

Crossing my fingers that someone wants to join me! :confused3

Send me a PM! Thank you! :)

Anyone coming from the Detroit area, Spirit has non-stop $49 tickets (some $27 if you belong to their club).

Not sure about other markets. I think I may keep my Southwest ressies as of right now....

Wel...stupid stupid STUPID me..I guess US!! We missed the registration for the 1/2 marathon relay. It is so stupid why we did too. We were thinking of a team name. I had gotten on last weds, determined to register and called DH at work so we could finish the registration...well...he said "lets think about it and talk about it tonight" well....with 4 little ones, that night was not optimal for discussions. So on fri, I decided on a team name and I was going to register but I had to finish some mickey tie dye shirts....Well Sat AM, I sat down to finish registering and it was CLOSED!!! UGGHHH! I am so mad at myself. We planned our whole vacation (including dining ressies) around this run. I know, stupid! Plus DH, who is not a runner, started training a few months ago just to do this with me. I am so mad. The capacity went from 85% on Weds to full on Fri night (apparently).

Sorry for the vent. I am just sick about this whole thing....:sad2:

Keep checking, they may reopen it?

Oooooh, that stinks!!! Is the 5k still open? I know its not what you planned, but it will still be a Disney run to do! I agree with Todd, it sure won't hurt to keep checking back, too.

I don't think there's a cap on the 5k, or at least, it's not at 50% yet. Focusing on a fast 5k might be an awesome idea for those who missed out!

I think that's a great idea too. PLUS you'd get to run through MK!!

I'm signed up for the half marathon relay and because of leg problems I won't be able to run. :sad2: If someone is interested in taking my place please send me a PM. You would need to run the 4.8 miles at a 16 minute mile pace.

Sorry to hear that.

I REALLY want to do this (registration filled before I could find a buddy) but I'm working early the next morning :( Is it possible to transfer the stuff, anyways? Good luck to everyone racing- it sounds like an awesome race. Really hoping to do it next year, and remembering to ask for the time off :)

I'm so sorry you aren't able to do it. I've already payed for the 1/2 or I would take you up on it. I hope you find someone that can take your place!

Thanks everyone! We were reading the rules and Kim can still run without me and still get her medal.
I'm glad because we didn't want to do something against the rules and be disqualified for future races.
