I was just wondering who (assuming someone!) will be running the Mickey's Halloween 5k in the Magic Kingdom on the Saturday of the Wine & Dine Half?? That will be my first race ever, and although DH will be a spectator, I was hoping I might find some folks to meet with/line up with prior to the start. I know I'll be nervous and won't known what the heck I'm doing, so I just thought I'd check! And in the interest of full disclosure-- I'm really slow! :rolleyes1

My mom and I are doing it. We've only done a couple of other races, and it's our first ever Disney race. We can't wait!!!

This will be my first race as well. hoping to get my Wife and Kids to come and watch as well. they are not real excited about getting up that early on the last day of our trip, but hoping to convince them by then. It would be great to meet up with some other first timers. You can count me in...

MamaCrush - just go out and have a good time! :cool1:

With this being a family run, you'll do just fine. At the Disneyland 5K this past weekend, there were people carrying babies and walking with little children. It looked like they were just out for a walk in the park. There were older seniors taking it VERY easy. I suspect the 5K at the W&D weekend will be similar. There may be times that you'll have to walk slowly due to the number of people trying to go through a narrow path. There may be times you'll want to stop and have your picture made with a character (be sure to bring your camera). Unless you're toward the front of the pack, don't think of it as a serious race - it's a fun run, try to relax enjoy it!

I will be run walking this with my Mom as her second 5K. We had so much fun the first time, I am really looking forward to it.

I wish that I could have managed to come out for this. The medals looked really cool to me when I saw them at the expo at Disneyland. You'll have a good time.

I'm certainly going to try! But this is typical of me-- prepare for the worst, but once I'm surrounded by Disney magic, it's all good!

My husband and I will running. This will be my first Disney race.

I've lost 142 pounds since June 1, 2009, and discovered I love running (albeit slowly). I'm fully expecting to cry the entire race as I run along paths that I used to struggle on while walking.:yay:

Congrats on your amazing accomplishment - enjoy every step of the 5K!:thumbsup2

WOW! :worship: I am so very impressed by your accomplishment I truly hope those will be tears of joy! You've certainly earned them...

This will be my first back to WDW since starting my own weight loss/running journey at the end of this past March. I still have miles to travel, but I have wondered how it will feel without 32 extra pounds weighing me down. I'm looking forward to having more room on the rides as well as the increased energy my running program has earned me! Who knows, maybe I'll get in front of the camera this trip!

I'll be there too! It's my first race ever and I'm a little nervous. I expected to be able to train more but, you know how life gets in the way...I'll probably end up walking most of it but I'm really excited and can't wait. Good luck everyone!

A group of us, mostly from twitter and Facebook, will be meeting up each day that weekend. If you would like to meet up with us you can find out more and let us know you're coming on the Facebook Group page and also at DisneyEveryDay.com, complete with our full schedule of the weekend and a list of the nearly 60 people so far, you may even know a few of us.

We're also having breakfast at Whispering Canyon after the run at 10:45 and dinner at Ohana at 5:15, RSVP on the Facebook Group.

This will be my first race too. Parents and their friends run these races all the time and I guess I got hooked. I went for the 5K so I can have fun while trying to take it all in. I don't have the attention span to train for a half marathon, and the treadmill's been interesting, but I always run better outside. I just gotta pace myself and manage the nerves.

Anyone run/walking a 14:30-15:00 pace who'd like to meet up at the start line??? We could keep each other going!

This will be me and DH's first 5K race. We've walked a few before, but we've been training to run/walk this one. He's a little faster than I am, but I am going around 15:00 per mile with running/walking. I'm nervous and excited and can't wait to get that medal!

Hope to see some of you and good luck to all!

Well, looks like I'm now going and running solo! DH has just come down with the shingles, of all things, and will be in miserable pain if he comes with me. So I guess I'm now getting the solo DisneyWorld trip I've been wanting! Not my first choice, but I certainly hope to make the best of it!
