So I was talking to a friend today, and she was asking me a few questions about our options at disney. I SWEAR I had read somewhere about a person getting married on their balcony (maybe it was a vr) at their hotel, and someone doing it on a boat at fireworks? I would imagine that would be really easy to do, especially at larger resorts, especially if it was a vr, I mean, you wouldn't even need a minister right? And you can wear your wedding attire at resorts, just not in the parks. But I have no idea where I read this. Anyone know about it? I'm not sure if that is even a possibility... but I started thinking more about how much I just want to do a vr with my dh WITHOUT a minister. It feels really unnecessary to me (we aren't religious, and we're already married, so it's not needed legally!). I don't even know if that is allowed with escape? So I started wondering what options might be out there.

Thanks!!!

EDIT: Ok, I just searched and it looks like that balcony thing is not allowed. HOWEVER, someone just posted that it was way cheaper to do a VR on yacht 1- SO- is that possible I wonder?? ANd I still wonder about if we can do an escape w/out officiant?

When I have vacationed at Disney, I have chartered the Grand 1 Yacht. It will easily hold 10 people, though they allow you up to 18 I believe. It is around $520 an hour after tax. You can charter it for a cruise to see Wishes at the Magic Kingdom or do just about anything else you would like, including having dinner served by a Butler.

Chepic (cheryl) did it on her balcony at OKW I think...they had a family friend do the ceremony for them...I am pretty sure it was her

CHERYL!!

I don't believe you can do an official disney ceremony on the grand 1 or in a room, but if you wanted to do a small low key renewal I'd imagine you could. Just don't go running around announcing it and you would likely be ok. Official disney policy is that it can't be done though.

LOL! I think that might be tricky in my big red gown! I would LOOOOVVVEEE to do it on the grand 1, but I would have to wear my dress, so I couldn't hide it!

But, thinking on that- Does anyone know if you do NOT have a vr/wedding at disney, if you are able to still do a fireworks cruise and a dinner IN WEDDING attire (like a small reception?)????

Thank you!!

Cheryl had her VR on the Magic. But I did read of someone who had a 'private' party in their villa.

I think you can wear your wedding attire as long as your not going IN the parks. So if your dinner was at a resort hotel I think your ok, as far as on a fireworks cruise I have not seen any restrictions on what you can wear.

So from what I have read, I think you would be ok to wear your dress to dinner and on a fireworks cruise!

Quick update- I've emailed my escape person to find out about the boat options... and the officiant... but I'm thinking I'll get a no on both! I have a few other ideas I've sent her... so we'll see what she says to them! I'll keep you posted!!

For what it's worth, you can wear whatever you like on the Grand 1. There is a captain and first mate on board, and as they always say "this boat is completely yours" for the time you have chartered it. They could care less about what is being worn. I think a VR would be beautiful off the back of the boat (the crew sits upstairs away from you so it would be very private) at sunset just before Wishes. You could even arrange to have dinner on the boat before the VR by calling the Grand Floridian and getting the catering menu. There's nothing quite like the Grand 1.

WOW- I have to say, that sounds fantastic. The only thing would be if I could get a photorgrapher.... I will have to call and ask if this is ok. I just do not want to be doing something I'm not supposed to- not quite the happy vow renewal thing I'm going for, LOL! I could care less about the officiant, honestly would prefer it to be more private without. But I MUST have photos with my kids there!!

I'm here, I'm here....for our 10th we stayed in a 2 bedroom at OKW and had friends with us. Her father is a ship's captain and lives in SC, so they came down for the weekend. We did our own little ceremony thing out on our veranda and then went into Epcot for dinner in France. I had mentioned to the girl at the front desk that I would need an extra parking pass and told her why. She had balloons, champagne, and chocolate strawberries sent to the room, with a note from Mickey and Minni stating to have a wonderful 10th anniversary. It was a great and inexpensive way to show each other how much we loved each other.

Now, for our 20th, we went a little "overboard"....hee hee...some cruise humor.

And as another note, we did the Grand 1 with some friends, and it was beautiful, and would be a great way to do a private renewal. Our son, and the other kids loved being on the boat. We had food deliviered, and we took pictures. The first mate was more than accomodating with taking pictures of all of us. It was a bit more money than our 10th anniversary renewal; but would be very romantic.

Thanks so much for telling me about this and your VR experiences! I'm going to have DH contact the marina tomorrow to make sure doing some sort of anniversary celebration like this is allowed! I will let you know- I had trouble getting through when I tried to call a couple of times this week, but should have the time this weekend:)

Don't give up calling the Marina to book, I had issues too, and this was about 4 years ago. Now that they do these fireworks cruises, they book up quick.
