Anyone do trip instead of gifts for kids...

I also ordered some things from WDW florist to be in the room before we get there. They have some cute little mickey bags filled with snacks that you can order and I am having balloons delivered with them.

everyone other year my parents take all of us (at present time there is 20 of us!!!!)

as part of our CHristmas present takes us on a family vacation.

We usually go in the begining of March and go to warm weather places

we've been to Hawaii 3 times, the Bahamas on a cruise and The Cayman Islands!!!

They have a lot of traditional flower arrangements, but if you look under "our unique designs" or something like that....they have disney designed baskets and gifts. I figured the kids would get a kick out of having them there when we check in to the room. They deliver on the property and are pretty flexible with some things. We are orering the snack bags and adding some balloons so I don't have to worry about lugging balloons in the parks and on the busses. I called the florist directly and they were very helpful in assisting me in my wishes. Some of the things are a bit pricey so see if anything appeals to you.

I totally agree that we give our kids so much stuff that will not last as long nor be appreciated as much as a trip. We love to travel as a family. It's such a precious time of being together and creating magical memories. We want to do a Disney cruise soon and it will be part of the dks Christmas even if we go in the summer. Other presents will be some items they can use on the trip. They will get a few other things as well but not expensive items. I think it is teaching our kids lessons about choices, goal setting, and money management. We are going on a trip this week and for a while now when they ask to go to McDonald's or ask for something new I remind them that we are saving our $ for our trip!!

A Disney trip for Christmas or a birthday - Very Awesome!!

As a kid my parents gave us several Disney trips as Christmas presents. The trips were wonderfully exciting. When we went we were always down in Disney over Christmas. We always brought a little tree to decorate with ornaments and some other Christmas decorations. I was always amazed that Santa still found us in our hotel room for Christmas morning! The presents were not big and expensive but as a kid you are just pleased there are presents at all to unwrap. My parents would give us a few presents too mostly related to the trip or extra spending money for us to pick out souveniers. Even as an adult I remember these Christmas trips. I thought it was so cool to go swimming on Christmas Day! We certainly understood that the trip was our BIG gift - and what a great gift it lasted a week with lots of fun everyday with your family and then pictures and memories to hold onto for a lifetime.

We haven't done this yet for our DD - but I know we will at some point. She has already asked to spend her birthday in Disney some year and I think that is a great idea.
