I bought a Moroccan Tagine recently from Sur La Table. (Great place!)
I did everything I was supposed to do to season it. (At least what the directions stated... what little they were.) Last night on my 3rd tagine it cracked in half. It turned my smooth-top range burner into a mirror finish.
I used a stove-top approved sponge and the liquid that GE recommended, and the mirror surface wiped right off, and there's no damage to the stove at all. Sur La Table shipped me out another Tagine which I should receive in a week or two, so that part went OK. I'm just hoping there is someone out there that can help me diagnose what went wrong. It shouldn't have been too hot, as I only had the burner on 4 out of 10.
Any suggestions???
BTW If you have never had a Tagine (also spelled Tajine) you really owe it to yourself to try just one! They make the best food you can put into your mouth!!!!! We absolutely LOVE the food it creates, and now that we have found more of the ingredients, after my new one arrives and I soak it, I plan to use much much more. It's delicious food! It's one of the easiest foods to make once you get the hang of it, and it makes a LOT of food.
