The Polynesian Resort is actually rated very high among the other concierge options. The Wilderness Lodge original design did not include a concierge floor. It wasn't even put into action until the resort's construction was underway and then they "altered" the original design slightly to convert a standard floor over to a concierge floor.
The concierge at the WL is not considered to be full concierge...and the overall service are run out of the Poly Office. There is not a lounge like you find at the other resorts. WL concierge is performed in what really a plused up hallway.
Some people love the WL concierge while others are shocked in the absence of a concierge lounge and limited food offerings in comparision to other deluxe resorts concierge services. I believe many people just like the Old Faithfull Inn (Yellowstone NP) architecture that the WL models itself after.
As a side note: I ran a simple, non-scientific, 25 question poll last year in a WDW niche site and the feedback from concierge veterans stating their top 3 concierge resorts:
54% Polynesian
42% Wilderness Lodge
33% Grand Floridian
25% Animal Kingdom Lodge
25% Beach Club
13% Boadwalk
8% Contemporary Resort
The primary focus of concierge respondents was on services, limited floor access (security) and food offerings.
