did any of you who just went to wdw do any of the following?

Pirate Cruise
Grand Adventures in Cooking
Princess Tea
any fishing excursions
Chip & Dale's camp fire sing-a long
any of the WDW tours

Anybody do Victoria & Albert's?

I am bound & determined to do a less comando type of trip next time...I would love a more relaxing pace & am curious as to your thoughts on any of the above things.

Thanks!!

Kristine

Not last trip, but I'll be home from my next trip in 37 days, and I've got a tour scheduled (Backstage Safari at AK). I'll post when I get back.

On Oct. 1st I and 2 friends did the Seas Epcot tour, snorkeling with tanks in the Living Seas. It was wonderful.

We have the Segway tour planned for January. We too, are determined to enjoy more things at a slower pace.

When we had our sons with us (years ago), we all loved the Campfire with Chip and Dale, and we're going back to that in January as well.

Bobbi :flower:

DH and I did the Dive Quest tour. If any adults are certified to SCUBA you can do this and it's so wonderful! One man in our group had his wife and kids stationed so that the underwater photographer got them plus the diver in a family portrait! Plus, it's just so dang fun!

After 19 yrs of doing the Commando-type visit, we are finally planning on doing a less-stressful trip this time. DH is doing the Richard Petty Rookie Driving Experience, and I'm doing the Ride-along. I really want to do the Segway tour, but maybe next time. Spending time at OKW - just relaxing sounds wonderful to me. I just love sitting and "people-watching" at the parks, especially MGM at night. Just love that music... Have been listening to my CD of Voices of Liberty all day. Getting in the mood... only 2 weeks to go. :earsboy:

HI,
This is my first post so please forgive if any errors are made. I learned so much this past year I just wanted to share our experience with "Grand Adventures in Cooking." My two girls (ages 5 and 7) attend this on Friday, October 14 of this year and it was great. My girls had a wonderful time. They decorated a chef's hat and apron. The girls' names were on both items. I was impressed with the chef's hat because I thought it would be paper, however it was cloth with black mickey ears. They served the cookies they made to the guests, parents and workers at the Grand Floridan. The cookies were premade and the children were able to decorate them with various colors of icing. It was great. It gave my children the break that they needed from the parks.

I'd love to try the segway tour...but since the kids can't, maybe someday.
Have a GREAT trip!! ::MickeyMo

Did you happen to notice if any boys were in this class?? I am considering this...but I wonder if it would be good for boys. Anyone have any thoughts?

Yes, there was one boy at our Grand Adventures activity. The class was small. I think there was only about 6 or 7 children. I remember seeing at least 2 adults with the children and another adult that registered the children, she also gave each parent a pager in case they were needed.

::MickeyMo Last trip we did the Around the World Segway Tour and the Keys to the Kingdom Tour. Both were amazingly awesome! The KTTK gives a lot of neat information. You get commemorative pins from both. We were really happy we did them. ::MinnieMo

We are going in April 2006 for my daughter's 9th birthday. I would love to get some more in on the Campfire with Chip and Dale. Where is this done and how much is the cost and any other info. Also how do you book this. I know my daughter would love to do something like this.

I have heard many good things about this event. It is at the fort wilderness campground. It is free, no reservations...1st a sing a long around the campfire & then they show a disney movie. You can buy marshmallows & smore kits from the chuckwagon

I copied & pasted this info:
<<<Campfire singalong with Chip 'n' Dale characters nightly at 8 p.m., near Meadow Trading Post at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. Showings of Disney cartoons and full-length Disney films are complimentary to resort guests. >>>

DNeph (turned 8 on our trip) did the Albatross Pirate Cruise from YC Marina. He really enjoyed it - a very low-key way to spend a morning out of the parks (the big kids & DSis slept in and enjoyed massages at BWV). The "pirate ship" made stops at Swan/Dolphin, BWI, Mexico, Canada and then the beach at BC. The kids all came back to the dock with huge smiles and lots of "Aaaarrghs!" all around!
On our last morning DSis and I took DNeph and DGrD (2) on the Family Magic tour - yep, big kids slept in again ;) ! It was a really fun tour for young kids - you follow a map and clues around MK to find Hook's hook and 'save' the MK - doing silly, fun things along the way. At our last stop we were met by Peter and Wendy and they enacted a story/play with the kids and then walked with them (taking giant steps) to Small World where we all rode in one boat with P & W- Peter shared lots of fun info and pointed out hidden mickeys, which DNeph loved. This was HUGE for our kids as they are HUGE PP lovers - they were PP and Tink for MNSSHP that night. This tour will definitely be a 'forever' memory for DNeph!
Since joining DVC and visiting WDW a couple of times a year, we have really enjoyed taking a less commando style and enjoying these fun 'extras'.
PS: DH and I took DS on the Segway tour on his 16th birthday - it was awesome! - keep it in mind for the future! Have a blast! :smooth:

We did the campfire on our last trip in Sept. and my dd's loved it. It is free and fun and the smores were yummmmmy :goodvibes

Do you think a 10 year old would like the family magic tour?

I think it would depend on the 10 year old. If s/he really loves disney and the MK and hasn't yet become too 'cool' to play along, then I would definitely say yes. I know that DNeph would still love it at 10, especially if he were going with his younger cousin - he's the kind of kid who loves to enjoy the 'fun' the little ones are having (and I've turned him into a disney nut ;)- he loved all the little 'inside' info ). I think any age over 10 would be 'iffy' - until you have your own kids, that is!

DS (4) did the pirate cruise out of the Grand Floridian in late September. He had a blast!! They happened to dock at the Polynesian just as I was running back to the room to get something so I watched them for a few minutes. They got off the boat in their Mickey ear pirate scarves yelling "arrrggghhh landlubbers!!!!!" at everyone who passed them. It was really cute. Then they went off to search for their treasure. DS came back with a bag full of loot!

I've done V &A, chef's table. It was a fascinating and delicious experience that I would recommend to anyone. If you book it, make sure you read Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain. What a contrast, and yet, many things are the same.

We've done the sing along and campfire too. I was a little disappointed that not many people sang along. I think my kids thought I was a little too enthusiastic. The idea of the movie is good, but the whole set up is not very comfortable, sitting on log benches...definitely bring blankets and bug spray.

My dh, ds, and dd did the aqua seas tour and enjoyed it alot, though ds was a little worried he would run out of air (couldn't possibly happen, he's just a worrier). Actually, they were on the same tour as Bobbi!

So, in summary, thumbs up to all three!

I am hoping to be lucky enough to get the chef's table...did you have any trouble booking it?

Kristine - I meant to answer you in our thread but was out so I will answer here -

we did Aurora's princess tea party this trip - if the money isn't an issue to you - I would reccomend it - the food was okay but the entertainment is great and if you love Aurora it is a blast!!!

we also did the campfire and I loved it - the kids didn't make it through the movie -they wanted to run around so we left but the camfire was so much fun!! definatley take Bug Spray!!!!!!!!!!!!!
