Anyone do a VIP private tour since the parks reopened?

I called them a few days ago - I am going in Late Oct. They said Oct 22-23 was $650. 24-25th was $550 and 26th-27th was $450. I think I have that right.

I am going to wait until our next trip I think. There are a lot of restrictions right now. They won't eat with you. They won't ride with you. There are no character meets and greets (of course since there are not any). They aren't really doing shows and of course fireworks. So, really it's just ride fastpasses, and they won't do RotR since there is no fastpass lane for them. It seems like it's not worth the cost to me aright now and I prefer to wait until more of the experiences are open.
Per day or per hour?

Quick Question. Do you think the current price reflects that? In other words, if shows and meet and greets were available, do you think the price would be more per hour than what you were quoted?

I don't think so. We did the VIP tour last November and the price was similar. I can't remember exactly how much it was (who wants to?), but I do not think they have discounted the price.

To us, the guide not riding with us is fine. It's fun when they do, but no big loss. We don't care about character meets, shows or having a good spot for the fireworks. We did not stop for a meal during our tour - just grabbed snacks throughout the day. We didn't want to spend that kind of $ to sit at a table and eat. Ate a big breakfast in the morning and a nice dinner that night. No lunch.

I’m hoping to take a vip tour on October 12, 2022. Looks like the hourly at that time is going to be in the $600s. Might not happen. Maybe I’ll put the tour off until January 2023. Was supposed to be for my fiftieth.

The lady on the phone said their advise is to just eat quick service if you eat since you are paying a lot per hour. I am the kind of person who would enjoy a nice lunch with the CM to talk about Disney stuff and pick their brain. I can see the rides anytime. But if they can't eat with us, that puts a damper on that idea. :-)

I will add, I totally get that. You are there to ride the rides. I will tell you though that the most fun I had was when I took the Key to the Kingdom tour. I was by myself on that trip, so being by myself, I got paired with our CM Guide on the Haunted Mansion (the other rides were not 2 person rides - On Jungle Boat, she just took the mike over). But on HM, I had a terrific time because she took the time to point out and tell me all kinds of unique stories and facts and hidden mickeys that I would NEVER have found if she had just told me about them and then let me ride it myself. True, I paid less attention to just "riding the ride", but lets be honest - I can (and have) ridden it a hundred times.

So there is - at least to me - value in the guide riding with you.

How are VIP yours working between parks? Before you needed a park hopper ticket correct? You can't make reservations at 2 parks.

Currently, no park hoppers needed. You just need a reservation for the beginning park and a valid ticket to enter that one park. They ask you when booking your VIP tour what parks and attractions you generally plan to visit. For any other parks after the first park, they don’t scan your ticket or MagicBand; to enter, they just take you through the backstage entrance of those second (or third or fourth) parks.

The last time we did the tour they did scan bands/check tickets at each park. Maybe they aren’t doing that now because there are no hoppers? We have APs so it doesn’t matter to us.

My family had the wild Africa trek tour booked for mid October. I was hoping that would be back since it was something they were offering the NBA players and their families while they were in the bubble. Considered the VIP tour instead, but the price was just too high for us this time around.

To build on this, I also called this week. We pushed our trip out from this October to next, so I’m considering a VIP tour as a treat for the delay. I asked about pricing this year to get an idea. Our dates this year would have been Oct17-23. Except for Columbus Day weekend, which is highest pricing, this is what rep told me: Saturday and Sunday: $650. Monday and Tuesday: $425. Wednesday-Friday: $550. As others said, that’s per hour with 7 hour minimum. Can book 60 days in advance. I’m budgeting at the $550 rate, but assuming we’ll do a Monday or Tuesday. I think he said those were generalily the two cheapest days. YMMV.

I'm thinking of VIP for the beginning of Jan. I'm sure it's going to be on the high end of the price range. But as others have said it may just not be worth it. I've done them a couple of times before and felt they were worth it. I requested and got the same guide. Having Lauren both times added to our enjoyment of the tours. Not too sure if we'll get our money's worth now.

What they explained to me is that since you can not purchase park hoppers or get reservations for 2 parks, you need a ticket and a reservation for the first park on your list. They will provide quick transportation to the second park. However, after your tour is over, if you leave the park for any reason, you will only be able to get back into the first park on your tour (the one you have a reservation for).

We’re booked for a VIP tour on a Sat in early Nov. To us, despite the additional weekend cost, it made the most sense to use it on the day the most parks were likely to be full. Why use it on a Thursday when the crowds are likely to be heavier in most places on Sat? We’re doing it for parkhopping (you only need a ticket/reservation for the first park on your list) and also - critically - to optimize safety by avoiding crowding. As stated before, the only thing they can’t get you is a BG for RotR (and arguably, you’re better off starting in another park that opens earlier - I liked seeing the prior post about getting a BG at 2, though that’s a bit chancier!). It’s obscenely expensive, but honestly, we just wanted to do it. We felt the indulgence would probably be enjoyed and appreciated more during this mess of a year than any other time.

Thanks for the info. How much do you tip per person?
Also, with the population of the parks so low, would it be worth it?

Not unexpected, but the Broadway Theatre League has just announced that the Broadway shutdown has been extended to June 2021. :sad1:

We tipped the equivalent of one hour.

"Worth it" is relative. For us, avoiding standing near strangers is worth it right now. The tour guides take you through the FP lines (which are empty now) or back entrances (like Haunted Mansion), so you avoid standing in line.

Do they still use the MinnieVans ?
And what is the guest limit ? 8 per group or how many fit in the Van ?
