Anyone do a Helicopter Tour of Disney ?

My wife got me and a friend a trip for father's day. We're going this Sunday, the day after we arrive down there. Just wondering what we're in for ?

I've never been in a helicopter before, and while I hate heights, it sounds pretty fun. Supposedly we'll do fly byes of all 4 Disney parks, as well as Universal and Sea World.

And if you've been before, is it worth bringing my DSLR, or would I be better served with my Go Pro rig ? I'm thinking we'll be so high up, even with the biggest lens I'm bringing (a 24-105) I won't get much in the shot.

From what I can remember, the airspace under 3,000 feet is restricted, so you'll be pretty high up. Add in the vibrations and turbulence of a helicopter and I think shots with a long lens might be difficult. Sounds like a great adventure! Have fun.

1) Air space restrictions are done.
2) Disney got these as a security "excuse".
3) They really wanted to stop the sightseeing AND the skywriting.
4) Finally, WDW was overridden and the restrictions ended.
5) So, now you see the two red copters overhead frequently.

NOTE: The prohibition was not total. Execs, like Ogre (I mean Iger) would
still helicopter-in versus taking a limo like the lesser execs.

A CM told us Ogre's (I mean Iger's) favorite resort to stay in is the Yacht Club and he gets the best suite, of course.

I took a helicopter tour once, my brother-in-law flies them. PErsonally, it made me sick to my stomach, and I am not usually prone to motion sickness. It was also very hot (this was in Hawaii) and that did not help and the cockpit was cramped. The views were beautiful though, so I recommend at least trying it. Just be prepared that it can be unsettling. It's also very loud, even with the headphones.
