Anyone do a dinner in their resort room ?

I would not try to cook dinner in a standard room without some sort of kitchen facilites (microwave and fridge). Eating on the bed skeeves me out so I'd have to have at least a small table. :scared: My kids on the other hand have no issue eating cereal on the floor.

Now a light dinner of sandwiches and chips on the go would be fine for us.

I know at least one other poster mentioned juggling a plate of food on the bed. Every Disney resort we've stayed at has a table with two chairs, some also have a bench. We could eat our snacks/breakfast in shifts or some of us could sit on the bench. (In reality most of the time we would eat something while walking to the bus stop ;) )

Right but for 5 of us to eat at the same time, in a standard room, someone is sitting on the bed. We all like to eat together, even on vacation. Cooking in a standard just doesn't work for us.

Yeah, back when the kids were much younger and pre-DVC days. We had some great room service meals at the WL in our room. There's always at least a small table in the rooms, even at the values.

Prepare it and take it poolside, that is what we did when the kids were little.

Not every night but once or twice depending on the length of our stay we would have sub sandwiches with maybe potato salad or veggies and dip by the pool.

We did drive and had a cooler that plugged into the car then would convert to a wall outlet and I would vacuum seal the meat and cheese in portion sizes so it stayed fresh. I just can't eat restaurant or counter service everyday to much fat makes me feel sluggish.

We chose a hotel that has a mini fridge and microwave for this reason. We plan on having a number of meals there. Having these two items, you have so many options. We plan on making nachos, sandwhiches, ceral, buying pre-made salads and keeping them there, fruit, etc. We'll eat them on the deck or the table in the room. I bought cheap plastic plates, bowls, cups and utensils to take, and also bringing small packet of dish soap and a sponge to rinse them clean. Will probably also bring a travel size package of disinfecting wipes to wipe down the table before hand.

We order pizza at least 1 time.

We pick up or bring most snacks, to help keep costs down. We have bought salami n bread n kept it for light meals. Or sometimes mid-night snack :)

One thing we have done at WDW that is sort of a compromise is this:
We would bring pringles and can drinks and cookies from home and then purchase some type of sandwich from the food court. Saves a lot of money and no work involved.

On a recent trip I did this. I had some stuff in my rooms for quick breakfasts and some snacks and leftovers. One night for dinner I only bought a hot dog and ate it with leftover chips and fruit. Other nights I got something small and supplemented with my own food. It was cost effective no work and personally I kinda like being able to snack or eat while getting ready or watching the news or just chilling out under the AC.

when we feel like eating in, or a budget decent meal-we take out from Earl of sandwich and relax in our room.

I've done room service on our last trip to akl we got sick and didn't want to leave out room. But I wouldn't try to cook a meal in room and wish so many great places to eat outside if you do take out I'd rather eat out then eat in.

We've do done cold items. Yogurt, lunch meats, fruit, cereal, ready foods from Walmart or Costco. The food court items are good but for a long trip these items become tiresome. We have also bought extra soup from Wolfgang at downtown Disney to keep in the fridge and microwave at the food court. We have eaten take out at the pool.
