Anyone disappointed in Outback lately?

We use to go 2-3 times a month. In December we bought a bunch of gift cards (for us) to get the extra $20.00 per $100. We saw it as a nice discount to a place we frequent.

I was also really liking the early bird menu (which they've discontinued) for $10.00. I would order the ribs (4---perfect portion for me) which came with two sides.

Now they've taken away that menu and many of our favorites (grilled shrimp on the barbie, ahi salad). They've shrunk the Joey Steak that DD6 use to order,...even the side of broccoli got cut in half. I had a crab stuffed shrimp that tasted like it came from the frozen food aisle.

I'm hoping the Victoria's filet is still good, since that's the only thing left on the menu that I like.

Just wondering if others felt the service/quality/selection has gone downhill.

I may be using the rest of my gift certs at Bone Fish.

Yep. We gave up on Outback some time ago. The service was poor, the food quality (never outstanding) dropped significantly, and at least in the Clermont, FL location they started charging for tap water. :confused3

Plenty of other places for us to spend our money, so we do!

We've not went as much as we used to. They have declined a bit.

I didn't know they took the Ahi tuna salad off. That really stinks. I loved it.

I noticed their menu changed quite a bit too. To me, there wasn't as many appealing dishes. I've heard great things about, Bone Fish. We haven't tried it so I'm sure we'll go there next time we head out.

We gave up on it a while ago too. We gave the one nearest us 3 chances! The first time on my birthday, DH ordered lamb chops and they were raw, and when he asked for them to be re-grilled, they microwaved it. The next two times we went, service was so horrible, we walked out without even getting food.

And the quality has definitely gone downhill in the ones we used to enjoy. I know times are hurting for a lot of businesses, but this isn't a time to let quality and service slip! People are still eating out in droves (always at least a 90 minute wait for Olive Garden and places like that). I like a good steak house, but they're getting harder to find.

Like above poster, we gave up on them about 5 years ago. Their steaks are nasty, plain and simple. Go to Super Target and pick up one of their Sutton and Dodge brand steaks. They are about $6 a pound on sale. Throw them on your own barbie, and save $$. Yum.

Thanks for this tip! I will be doing that!

We used to LOVE Outback and went there about once a month when we lived in Hawaii. We went once here in VA a few weeks ago and we won't be going back. There are just too many great restaurants here that are so much better-and usually cheaper.

Wow....I just gotta ask if you went to Chuck's Steak House in Hawaii. I grew up there (left in 75) and that was a favorite spot of ours. I have noticed they are down to just one location, so I'm guessing they've gone downhill too.

We stopped going to Outback a while ago. We used to be pretty regular customers, but in the last year or two, the quality went really downhill. There's a chain here and in Canada called The Keg which was only marginally more expensive, and the food was so much better.

The Keg is the place I miss most now that we have the twins :)

Our last visit was several months back and DH said then we won't be back. Food was terrible. Service marginal at best.

Yea. I don't know why they always take away the good stuff. Shrimp on the Barbie was a fav of mines too....and the Toowoomba Pasta. :(

We used to go all the time with it right around the corner from us....but not anymore.

My DH and I loved the Keg when we visited Canada. Of course we were there years ago when the US$ was strong and eating a fine steak dinner was like eating at Chili''s here.

Our Outbacks around here still seem to be really good.

We love The Keg :lovestruc. We go there a few times a year. We usually go to the one in Fort Worth, but they just opened another one somewhat near to us in Arlington. We'll have to check that one out soon ::yes::.

The last time I went to Outback, I couldn't even get served. Sat there for 10 minutes while three different waiters helped out every other table. When I went to the hostess and told her, she just stood there and stared at me. So I left.

Outback is one of the few places, around here, that have remained reliably good. We don't go out to each much, but while places like Macaroni Grill and Bertucci's have disappointed us on multiple occasions, Outback is always great.
