Anyone decline MBs for a club level stay?

A guest's old MBs are supposed to be interchangeable with a new MB, so you should be able to decline a new MB and use one from a previous stay instead -- but a couple months ago we found that our previous MBs (only a few weeks old, from a moderate resort) did not work for access to the club lounge or club level guest rooms at a deluxe resort. Only the MBs that were issued for that particular stay would work for the club access or room.

Wondering if anyone who declined bands for a club level stay had a similar trouble or if the old bands did indeed work as they're supposed to for club access. Maybe this glitch has been worked out.

I'd love to decline unnecessary MBs but don't want to have access troubles with a future club stay.

We were at BWI in December, and got upgraded to club level. We had all our magic bands from previous trips with us and they all worked fine, no problem.

When we checked in, the CM asked us to see our bands, and I think he just checked the id numbers on the computer but he only checked the one I had on my wrist. The others were in my luggage at the time. As soon as we got the other MB's out of our luggage, I immediately checked to see that they all opened the door and they worked fine. I had at least 4 with me and DH had 3 or 4 with him.

@ScrapYap In MDE, did the CL MB show as being linked to the "you" with the other MBs?

For our YC upgraded CL stay, my new MB had been linked to an erroneous "me" and not to the "me" where a MB and tickets were linked. My older MB was not cloned to my YC MB. But my friend's YC MB was correctly cloned to her original MB.

Interesting glitch!

Thanks for the replies. Sounds as though this has been worked out.

Hey Hiro, I only have one "me" on my MDE - so no chance of an erroneous one. All my MBs were there on the MDE, club or not club (at that time you couldn't decline them).

Btw, I stayed at Yacht not long after you did, and was (not surprisingly) *not* upgraded. Not even after I told the CM at the front desk that I'm a friend of Hiro. :)

Too funny! That is still so strange that only your new set was activated for CL. I know the CL Concierge scanned one or both MBs to activate the CL and room access - we were in shock that we were in CL so I don't recall what else was done beyond that - they must have to complete one more step to have it activated for the complete MDE linkage.

If we ever get upgraded again, I'll ask the Concierge and will put in a good word for you!!;)
