Anyone cruised with Royal Caribbean

not yet, but have a cruise booked for January. Looks like it will be a great time.

My family sailed last fall with RCI, along with another family. We enjoyed our trip (sailed with Disney 2x before this) There is so much to do, more than the Disney, and the ship was sooo BIG! There were a few things that we did not like..the pools are salt water, the kids did not like the kids club, lame, didn't take you anywhere on the ship, and it closes for lunch/dinner and charges $5 an hour after 10pm (My son Loves the club on Disney) we did not feel the warmth from the people who work on the ship, oh and we spent too much money in the casino, our fault. We are going to switch between the two (Disney/RCI) so we can experience something differen't each fall.

We sailed on RCCL's Nordic Prince and then the Soverign of the Seas. We sailed on the Soverign 3 months after it went into operation, when it did 10 day Caribbean routes. We didn't even think of taking our son, then 1 year old, on the Soverign in 1988. I sure don't remember any kids activities, but our mind set was this was an adult vacation.
But the industry has changed a lot since then. Took our kids on both HAL and DCL, and while they did checkout the kids activities on both, they never attended any, they were too busy doing adult stuff .

I will be going on the Voyager in just 10 days!! We have been on DCL 4 times now, so I will be sure to let you all know how we feel Royal Caribbean compares.

Please let me know how you like the Voyager, when you get back. We're booked on the Voyager for next June, in a balcony cabin. We took our very first cruise last year on RCI's smallest ship, the Nordic Empress. We were in an inside cabin! Talk about small. LOL Fortunately it was only DH and I on that cruise. LOL
I hope you enjoy the Voyager! :boat:

I have done Carnival back in 95...the Festivale, a very tiny ship and we had steerage class room.
I also did RC's Navigator last jan. Like night and Day! The ship was huge and wonderfully laid out. We had a balcony cabin...now can never go back to steerage!
We'll be on the Brilliance this jan. Haven't done Disney yet, but will be going next sept, so can't compare yet.
But, if you have any questions about RC, just let me know! I'll sure try to answer if I know.:bounce: :Pinkbounc

I was on the Voyager back in May. We did a 2-night special for agents.

I have just 1 thing to say about the Voyager-

I LOVED IT!

The Voyager has so much to offer (as do many RCCL ships). They had a rock climbing wall, a mini golf course, an inline skating rink, pools, spas, Johnny Rockets, etc.

It was great. I loved it. I saw the children's area but because it was an agent cruise there weren't any children onboard (that I saw anyway). The children's area wasn't too big but they also had a game room.

I really like that they sail from Bayonne now.

I have sailed on the Nordic Empress twice, Sovereign of the Seas, and Monarch of the Seas! I enjoyed all four cruises thoroughly...but do still prefer DCL slightly over Royal Caribbean purely because of the childrens activities! Royal Caribbean ships are elegant, the service is great and the food is much better than DCL, but their staterooms are microscopic! ;) Also, RCCL has much better deals on their cruises!

Also have sailed on Celebrity and Carnival!

We sailed on the Nordic Empress and Sovereign of the Seas and we enjoyed them. We would consider to book our next cruise with RCCL if we go without the kids because of the good price. With young kids, I think DCL is a better choice.

WE sailed this past Memorial Day on The Sovereign Of The Seas. We had a great time. We are booked for The Mariner in April.

DH and I cruised on RC's Song of America in '91 for our honeymoon. It was fabulous We had a blast. I'm sure the Song of America is long gone, but I still have my sweatshirt from it. lol and I"m still married.

We sailed on the Mariner this past June. Had only previously done 3 DCL cruises. We had a great time on the Mariner and would definitely do it again. There is more to do for adults and kids/teens. Will probably not sail DCL anymore...we all need something more at this time. We are family of 5 and our cruise was about 1500-2000. cheaper too!

I sailed on Carnival Glory last August, Disney Wonder this past May and RCCL Mariner of the Seas a few weeks ago(9-28; 2 days late because of hurricane).

All three cruises were so much fun! Disney is just wonderful, family oriented and have booked another!!! The Mariner was sooo grand and totally breath-taking!!! Although, our Mariner cruise was shortened, RCCL gave us $500 per stateroom credit and 50% off a future cruise!!! They didn't have to do that, but I'm glad they did!!! WE will definitely cruise with RCCL again in the future!!!

We had a wonderful time!!! I think that you will too!

My Dh and I are going on Sovereign of the Seas In Dec, a few weeks after it comes out of drydock. No kids, but I will be sure to check out the kids clubs for the future. We are looking forward to it so much!!

DD(20) and I just got off the Carnival Fantasy on Sunday, huge disappointment after Disney, but for the money we had a good time.

I've been on the Sovereign, the Legend, and another ship that i can't think of right now, including a 10 day Panama Canal cruise back in 1995. RC got me hooked on cruising, although i must admit that I had a very bad experience with them in Dec. 1999 and, as a result, am unlikely to cruise with them again. However, their ships are beautiful and their food is excellent (much better than DCL, IMNSHO). This was pre-kids for me, so i can't cmment on their child programs, but we always had a great time doing adult activities, and always loved their art auctions on board.

My DH and I sailed on the Nordic Empress almost 10 yrs ago. We really enjoyed it at the time. We sailed DCL last year and the kids had a blast. We now have Grandeur of the Seas booked out of Baltimore next year for 10 days in a suite (money saved on airfare went towards the suite) and now have a 2006 DCL booked. Both have their good qualities. I'm anxious to see how the RCI's kids programs compare. Our children would go into the DCL's clubs after breakfast and we'd have to tear them away just to eat dinner with us, then they would inhale dinner just to be able to return to the clubs in the evening. I can't wait to try the solarium on GotS but I wish all RCI ships had fresh water like DCL. All in all I'm looking forward to both!!

have been on Rhpasody of the Seas twice and Vision of the Seas once. I think the two lines are comparable in food and on-board adult services. Disney is certainly miles ahead in kids activities for younger kids (under 7) but as kids are older the Disney aspects may be less important so the kids facilities not being quite as spectacular on RCCL is probably not a problem. I think there was a greater variety of evening entertainment on RCCL - but the shows weren't of the quality on DCL. The DCL cabins of comparable category are bigger and I think nicer. Disembarking was easier on DCL (but I also think that has to do with the port facility)

We also have booked Grandeur of the Seas booked out of Baltimore for May no air fare needed, just my DH and me, first cruise without the GK's and first non-Disney cruise after 5 taken. Will check out the kids programs since the GK's are getting older and after our 2005 and 2006 DCL which are booked we might jump ship altogether unless DCL comes up with either a new ship or new ports. Of course I will try to compare and report back.
