Anyone concerned about the Coronavirus in WDW ?

Only if the trip coincided with a huge spike in cases over here on the east coast. If we might be sick it's better to be home and not wasting our vacation money.

The US is in no way prepared for a pandemic. If you're prone to worry about this type of stuff, *that* is what you should be freaking out about.
As with anything, the US is well prepared for those with lots of personal wealth. But for anyone who had to rely on a public healthcare system in the case of a pandemic, yeah, sorry, you’re screwed.

I have read it from the beginning. People are concerned but i see no one in hysterics.

Canceling a trip that is three weeks might be seen as a sort of an over the top reaction to some. But if you're not going to enjoy the trip and will be anxious about it the whole time, why spend the money.

I have a trip planned for mid April. My son is 8 and my wife will be about 5 months pregnant at the time of travel. We are very concerned. Honestly, I just hope things hold out long enough for us to get our trip in ;)

The CDC said it is not a matter of if, but when for the US. No reason to panic, but something to keep an eye on.

In anyone's lifetime here, have you heard the CDC (or any other government agency) warn of major disruptions to normal life, mandatory government quarantines and to talk to your schools/employers about closing? I have asked many people and they seem to think this is unprecedented, so I am thinking a Disney trip probably isn't worth the risk.

We have a trip to WDW in late summer. We are cautiously watching. We are going head as planned or now. We will make a decision to cancel when the time gets closer.

Did anyone else happen to see pics of that supermarket in Milan? Bare shelves ! Major panic there right now -

Keep in mind, its not even only about Disney World itself. It is also about (At least for most of us) the plane or train trip there... Personally I still think it will be a go for me in April because taking a plane from NY to Florida as of now skips alot of possible issues. Now, a trip out of country would really be pushing my limits right now.

This thread and the hysteria along with it. Far far exceeds any threat from the virus or any man made disaster. Reminds me of the twilight zone episode. The Shelter.
I don’t think anyone is hysterical. But no one is exactly jumping for joy either. The experts have basically admitted now this virus will be everywhere. It’s not a concern for the young and healthy, but for those who are elderly, have elderly loved ones, or already have compromised immune systems, it’s not exactly comforting to think of the possible death of loved ones. Kind of like when I saw people making laughing emoticons all over Facebook when the virus was first circulating. Some of us have relatives in China. Even if you don’t, those are still real people who have died in China, I don’t find the humor. Yes, I know the flu kills many people each year. Also not comforting. I worry about that too for the same reasons. Now I have double the reason to fear for my loved ones health. Despite flu shots and following typical precautions but still living a normal life, i still have managed to get influenza and still get pneumonia. And I’ve personally lost a friend to death from influenza

How in the world could the US or any country have prepared for this Coronavirus epidemic? It's a new disease that started in China who pretty much did everything wrong in handling things. On top of that, they wouldn't share information about the virus.

As information about the virus becomes more available, adjustments are made in how to handle and treat it.

Each year, a "best guess" is made as to the formulation of the upcoming year's influenza vaccination. Then it takes months to manufacture the serum that will be distributed throughout the country. That said, it's going to take time to come up with a way to treat this newest virus. It's not like we have the vaccine just sitting around in a lab waiting for the Chinese to unleash the virus.

Within the last couple of days I have started a bit of preping. My first goal is to have a weeks worth of food and goods on hand. Dog food, soap, that sort of stuff. I stopped at Aldi's on the way home from work and spent around $40 on things like tuna packets, mac and cheese, frozen pizzas, and dog food. Tomorrow I'm going to hit up Meijer or Family Fare for a large jar of peanut butter, bread, frozen juice, and any sale meats I can find.

Don't forget to buy powdered milk if you have a need for it. A few weeks back I refilled my apt sized chest freezer so I'm fine for everything but milk, frozen juices (sigh) and N95 masks.

I’ve been watching the updates on Sky News and the medical ones on medcram YouTube channel. Doctors and researchers are still figuring this one out.

It does look like this could potentially become like the flu, where it goes around seasonally, but with a much higher mortality rate. Vaccines are being worked on, but that’s probably a good 18 months out. Right now, they’re just trying to contain it.

We have a trip to WDW coming up in May. I'm starting to be concerned about what's going to happen with this virus between now and then. Will it have come and gone relatively mildly, or will it become a seriously scary full on pandemic?

WHO should be declaring it a pandemic this week. I expect it to still be in the wild until a vaccine is created and deployed.
