More detailed info on the gentleman who was seen on Fox News interview via twitter:

"Frank Wucinski and his 3-year-old daughter, Annabel, are among the dozens of Americans the government has flown back to the country from Wuhan, China, and put under quarantine to check for signs of coronavirus.
Now they are among what could become a growing number of families hit with surprise medical bills related to government-mandated actions.
Mr. Wucinski, a Pennsylvania native who has lived in China for years, accepted the U.S. government’s offer to evacuate from Wuhan with Annabel in early February as the new coronavirus spread. His wife, who is not an American citizen and remains in China, developed pneumonia that doctors think resulted from Covid-19, the disease caused by the respiratory virus. Her father, whom she helped care for, was infected and recently died.
The first stop for Mr. Wucinski and Annabel was a two-week quarantine at Marine Corps Station Miramar near San Diego. During that time, they had two mandatory stays in an isolation unit at a nearby children’s hospital. The first started upon arrival in the United States, and the second was a few days later, after an official heard Annabel coughing.

“The hospital staff were very nice, they brought us a lot of toys,” Mr. Wucinski said. “Each time it was three or four days. I love my daughter to death, but being in the same room that long, she is not a great conversationalist.”
Both have repeatedly tested negative for the virus."

The focus of this article is the possible cost of being quarantined and can be read in full here:

Wow this is just incredible! If I were American I would be quite upset about.

I have to be honest, I don’t have a whole lot of faith in the people I know being able to quarantine themselves or take precautions against spreading germs if they should get Coronavirus. I’m thinking of the relative who told us she was recovering from strep, and fifteen minutes later stuck her finger in our newborns mouth to stop him from crying. Or when another relative told us he was recovering from influenza and still feeling under the weather, and asked if I wanted a bite of his food, from the same spoon. Or are the people who let their kids stick bare hands into salad bar bins as they watch and say nothing. Not to mention the parents who send their kids to school with fevers, against school policy. Is it just me, or do the rest of you see a lack of common sense when it comes to infection control? Or do most people think influenza is no big deal and don’t take precautions to avoid spreading it, but might take Coronavirus seriously? What about employers (including in health care) who force their employees to come in sick or lose their job, so you think a diagnosis of Coronavirus will change that?

I agree with you 100%. Everyone is screaming WASH YOUR HANDS, but people don’t at all or don’t for long enough. Kids are so lazy about washing. I have drilled it into my kid’s head, but I can’t depend on everyone else doing that, or other kids even caring.

The cat is probably already out of the bag in a BIG way, at least, on the west coast. Supposedly 80% show symptoms no worse than a bad cold or the flu. Many never get tested for the flu unless they go in for complications or an anti-viral medication...even less for a cold.

This is about the only thing helping me sleep at night. The hope that most people won’t get it too bad. I truly worry for my elderly loved ones though, or for anyone out there who has underlying health conditions. I have already told my parents if this starts to really hit hard hard everywhere, I want them staying home, and I can bring them food and supplies

Researchers at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the university of Washington have done genetic testing. They have research and facts backing up that the virus has been circulating for 6 weeks in the US. Gamechanger

gamechanger in a good way? Meaning, if it’s been around that long and we haven’t had many issues that’s good. OR, if it’s been around that long we’re all about to get hammered.

That's it's been around and many people already have and we are just now finding out meaning alot of people arent having major symptoms

That doesn't surprise me at all. We had a rash of viral illness here that was NOT the flu (high fever, cough, no other symptoms) as soon as school resumed in January. Our district has many families who traveled to China over the break. Lots of students and teachers were hit. No one was talking about this virus then, but it makes me wonder now. My son was hit pretty hard.

Except most epidemiologists are using their knowledge of the past to extrapolate what could well happen with coronavirus and thus COVID 19. The US is well prepared but only to a point and in certain parts of the country. The CDC's study of 2010 concluded that 675,000 respiratory machines were needed to fight a pandemic ; there is only about 10% of those machines in use in nationwide now. Add another 10,000 machines held back in the nation's emergency stores and we are still nowhere near the amt needed. Further, most of the equipment is located in urban areas. It's been discussed for decades that rural Midwestern areas are undeserved by advanced hospitals and to date no administration, Federal or State has been able to do much about that uncomfortable fact. With those and other thoughts in mind I don't see this as fear mongering merely, truth telling and transparency.

And the problem with critical care cases is the 3 to 6 weeks on respiratory machines. I am truly hoping that we find some antivirals to treat this virus. I know China is doing clinical trials ranging from high doses of vitamin C to HIV drugs, and Nebraska is doing a clinical study as well.

Where are you at?

NY has it's first confirmed case in NYC, a woman who traveled to Iran.
Her symptoms aren't serious so she self quarantining at home.
Makes you wonder just how many people do have it but have mild symptoms so they aren't going to see the doctor. It is hard for me to believe that nobody else has it there.

Or those people that are having major symptoms because of the virus right now are being misdiagnosed as having the flu or something else because they had no connections to any previously confirmed cases and no connections to travel from infected areas.
