I checked both Walgreens and CVS online for N95 masks. Both are sold out. I find that fascinating.
FWIW, they have been sold out for weeks. As have many other reputable online sources of masks.

Both sites suggested their only sold online. And they're both sold out.
Has he tried Home Depot or Lowes? They have mask for painting, and they do show N95 masks on their sites.
My husband is flying to Milan, Italy tonight and as a precaution he looked for masks here locally in Atlanta, since there aren't any really available in Italy right now. He didn't find any.
He could bring a scarf to put over his mouth or even a bandana. It's not a surgical mask, but at least it's something.
https://www.miamiherald.com/news/health-care/article240476806.htmlLet’s say I have Coronavirus. How would I even get tested for it? And why would doctors order a test for me since I haven’t been to any of the places with an outbreak?
They would have to rely on my symptoms. This is what China had to do as the PCR was taking too long to process.

We have very few at the hospital even. I had to go to two different floors to find some the other day when I was at clinical.
***ETA- Which were to be used by staff treating a patient with TBThat is must more frightening IMO.
My DH sells packaging equipment, supplies and chem-jan products. A few of his customers use the N95 masks due to their manufacturing processes. A month and a half ago, one company placed an order because they knew with the Wuhan situation, the masks would become hard to get. At that time, the supplier had a 4 month long backorder. All the mask suppliers and my husband’s company sent out emails saying mask sales were restricted to current customers who had recurrent mask orders on file only. They started ration protocols. My husband is flying to Milan, Italy tonight and as a precaution he looked for masks here locally in Atlanta, since there aren't any really available in Italy right now. This is my friend's pharmacy they are getting some in tomorrow. You can try to call and see if they put one away for himHe has a couple and that is exactly what he did. He is a trained pharmacist so he did not go into this completely blind.
How do you know it's not Corona? I am only half joking. They aren't actually testing people!

Yes, my family lives there and they are going around without masks. But apparently there are not many people around and alot of shops are closed also public transports are hard to come by.Thank you but he is not actually going into Milan. At this point if he finds one that will be a bonus. But in talking to a few people outside the harder hit areas, things are pretty much proceeding as normal in many cases, so hoping for the best.
I believe it is only a matter of time before someone brings the virus into one of the parks. Now that it has been found in most countries around the globe, a tourist is bound to bring it in. They are monitoring people entering from some countries, but unless they shut down entry to the US, I don't see how they can stop it. Unfortunately, if a case is found in a park, it will be really hard to find everyone that person has had contact with.
Thankfully, while this virus seems to spread easily, the death rate doesn't seem much worse than the flu. That is still not good. My family has been avoiding the parks for other reasons. I am having chemo treatments and my daughter is on an immuno suppressant so, we are staying away from large crowds because of the flu season. We will simply continue to stay away for awhile. Sad, but better safe than sorry.
The death rate does seem to be several multiples (I heard 20x) that of the flu. In addition to that, the majority of fatalities from the flu are in elderly people with existing health issues. One of the fatalities with COVID-19 was of a doctor in his early 30s who was otherwise healthy.
However, they're really taking this seriously and that they're trying to clamp down on travel in China may very well nip this this in the bud before it gets too crazy.

The flu kills seemingly healthy people too, just the majority are usually the elderly or the immune compromised. Same with the COVID-19, most that die will be the elderly and immune compromised, but seemingly healthy people will also die. I think when healthy people die of the flu or from this virus, it may be because they waited too long to get help, they think they'll get better because they're healthy, they're young, and before they know it they are either severally dehydrated or develop pneumonia and it's just too late to recover from.
I don't like the way, from what Ive read, that those who are hospitalized have a normal "flu like" first week, and then without warning their conditions worsen the second week. That makes for a terrifying fist week for anyone who has it even mildly.
