Anyone canceling a studio April 24th-30th? I need help!

I am desperate!LOL We have our trip to HHI for April 20-24 booked and planned a long time ago. DH and I are simply not into it! We really cringe when we think of that long drive and our hearts are really for WDW! Anyway the flights just came down drastically and we could get roundtrip airfare from April 24-30 for $480!!! That's how much driving down to HHI was going to cost us(gas, tolls, hotels on the way there and back) So, I just called DVC and there is a studio at SSR available for the 25, 26, 27 and the 29. I only have 102 points to work with. What should I do? Should I book those and wait list for the 28th? They have a 1 bedroom on the 28th but I am 10 points short! Anyone here canceling a studio anywhere on those dates? I know it's a long shot, but like I said, I'm desperate.

Unless the member "cancelling" leaves the res in his/her name, and you rent from him/her directly, you'd be out of luck. That night will go to the next member down on the waitlist, as it can't be "transferred" to you.

Yeah, I thought that. Do you know what the member discount is on cash nights? Maybe I can get the studio for that night and pay cash. Would they be able to link the ressie so we wouldn't have to move?

Since you are staying at SSR, they should be able to link the reservation to a member cash reservation and you would not have to move. The member discount is 25% of the rack rate, but the discount is not always available.

The reason I stated that at SSR you would not have to move, at some resorts, specific views or other booking categories may not be available on cash. Since there are not any specific booking categories at SSR, it shouldn't be a problem.

We made a cash reservation for a studio at SSR to attach to our 1-bedroom stay on points. There was plenty of availabilty for April 18-23 about 5 weeks ago. And we got the 25% discount on all our nights too. The rate ended up being $236.25 before tax. After tax it is around $275 a night.

Thanks for all the help and info! I am not having any luck yet. I have called twice and there is only a 1 bedroom at SSR on the 27, 28, and 29th. Nothing on the weekend before anywhere!

Best you can hope for now is that CRO releases some rooms back to DVC within that 7 day window. But it is a very long shot.

I'll be there Apr 20-27 in a 1bedroom. Sounds like it's gonna be busy.

FWIW, HHI is still a nice vacation. Rent a bike and go exploring the island. Enjoy the Low Country cuisine.

Well, I had to change my dates and luckily the airfare is only about $100 more and I was able to get a 1 bedroom at OKW for the 27th- May 1st. OMG, now I have some serious planning to do!!!
