I saw a link from Mousesavers to OneShare.com.. It would make a really cool xmas present. Anyone ever buy this sort of thing? Not that it matters about the dividends, but how much do you normally get?

We have had 1 share for years - I was thinking our check last year was around 60 cents.... I always think that it cost them more to mail the check than the actual divident!

I gave my husband the share as an anniversary present - he doesn't like Disney as much as I do! I actually ordered the framed version with the message and it's a fun addition to our office wall.

I bought my teenage sons one piece of stock (Microsoft and Dreamworks) about 3 years ago for Christmas. The cost of getting a paper stock is about 25.00 to 30.00 additional. It was a gift and we thought it would be a great way for them to start to see how the stock market worked. Since the price of it was so expensive, it really outweighs buying it as an investment (if that is what you are looking for).

Both boys have tracked how their stock has done. At one point Dreamworks was above 40.00 (we bought it around 20.00) ... then it fell. It was a great lesson for my sons to see.

We have their stocks framed in their rooms. The Dreamworks one is beautiful. I heard the Disney one is too.

We too own 1 share. YEARS ago stock holders used to get discounts .... so we bought in.... the next year that promo ended. :lmao: That's pretty much how I do in the stock market in general! We do still have the certificate framed and get our $.40 a year.

Well that .40 will definetly help with the $4000 I spend on trips every year
Thanks for the info! :goodvibes
I think it will be the coolest gift ever for my DD, and she will love getting a check from Disney no matter how much it is ;)

I have one share also. Just for the certificate.

We buy in, but not the single share stuff, we get it through the Disney Direct investment plan. Have $100 taken out of our bank account each month. Was the beginning of the college fund. Sold most of what we had last year for DD's first year of school this September.

Why don't you all reinvest your dividends??

I purchased a share of stock for my DS when he was born, the stock split etc, reinvested the dividends, he is now 14 and has about 11 shares. We also have the stock certificate - it is beautiful and looks lovely in a frame.

I was thinking the same thing :confused3 We bought one share each of Disney, Pixar and Harley Davidson and got the paper copy to hang in our office. Then immediately notified the company to reinvest the dividends. I'd rather put that $0.38 a year right back into the investment. Yes its small, but generally when dividends are that small always easiest just to roll them back into the investment.

We used to own a bunch of Disney stock. We sold it a few years back when the price went really high. We have not bought Disney stock again, although I would love to own some again!

I have Disney stock..when I first bought it years ago I got the certificate and that 5 shares split and such to be at about 15...I bought for years at Sharebuilder and just recently started buying monthly direct from Disney. Need to frame that certificate, because it is really cool.

I have two accounts with the Disney Stock Reinvestment Plan.

For about 14 years I have been having $100 per month as a direct transfer from a bank account to buy Disney Stock. And a second account, as a CM, where 20% of every gross pay is used for stock purchase. This year my reinvested dividends were almost $350.

I bought from Oneshare for my nephew for his christening. I got the frame and plaque and everything. It looks great on his bedroom wall. I would love to own more shares but not sure where to buy them and got to see how much we can afford to put into this. My parents owned a bunch of Disney stock and sold it the year before it split last. Bad timing.

I also do the direct purchase of $100 per month. It comes out of my bank account automatically, and I receive quarterly statements showing the number of shares that are purchased each month. Have been doing this for just over 10 years - and the current value is about $21,000. :thumbsup2

And yes, all of the dividends are reinvested.

A couple years ago DH asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I said Disney (meaning, a trip). He bought me the one share of stock and said "Now, I bought you Disney." :lmao: I loved it. One of my most favorite gifts. The cerificate looks great and is very nicely framed. My first check was for .03. The bank teller did a double take on that one. :rotfl2:
