Anyone bring their own cable modem

Has anyone brought their own cable modem to get internet access at their campsite. Last spring break I got one of their kit's, that looks like a cheap, reliable, and old Linksys cable modem. I didn't think of trying to look at the internal setup to see if Disney added anything special to the instructions. Thinking about how many people use them, I think maybe it is just a generic plug, play and go. I don't want to get there and then find out they are out of modems. Thanks for any info.

We did we have both router and modem in our RV. We had no trouble we were able to use computer, xbox and Kindle fire.

It depends on how they register the cable modem to the system. If its auto registered on connection, it could work. But most cable modem systems are the modem mac address has to be registered in order to gain connectivity to the network.

You can put your own router on the end of the cable modem, as the one they supply is does not include a built in router. We usually share one modem between 3 sites when we are there hooked to one modem. With limited number of modems availible, it makes it easier.

We use a Verizon MiFi and have no trouble. That started back when their modem was $10 a day. But since we have the MiFi, we might as well use it.

Now TV might be another issue. Our "new" MH has old TV's, so we will need the Disney converter if I can't talk DW into new TV's before Christmas.

TV is another story. You would most likely need a Digital TV converter and I'm not sure Disney has those. I would just buy a new flat screen 17" or so TV. They are only a little more than $100.

I was thinking this too. I think you can call them and have them add the MAC address to their system.
