Staying in a studio at VB this trip, and I usually ship down a small box ahead of me. Was going to send my small George Forman Grill. Thought I would use for lunch/snack or even quick dinners if we wanted (hots, burgers, ect)

Has anyone brought theirs and did you use it?

Thanks!

Gail

many dvcers do, small crockpots too, panini presses for sandwiches. it's nice to go back to the room, unwind and make a meal. i hope you have a real nice time, enjoy. :wizard:

These are great items to keep in an Owners' Locker, too! :)

:goodvibesI've brought mine, but mostly for grilled cheese sandwiches. I would couple it with soup or salad.

I travel with a crock pot (metal variety); cooking bags (for slow cooking in oven while at parks) and a foreman-type grill. The bags and/or crock pots are particularly good if you make a grocery stop and buy some crowd-pleasing meats: whole chickens, roasts, etc.

I use aluminum cupcake cups to freeze small meatloafs, which cook quickly in the oven after they have thawed all day in the fridge.

I take along some paper hot dog "holders" that are great for individual servings of popcorn (or other snacks), corn on the cob, as well as hot dogs.

Seems this is pretty common practice. Doesn't the grill create a good amount of smoke? Are you worried about setting off the smoke detector? Is it hard to clean with the small sink? Just curious.

I've not had a problem with smoke, but again, only grilled cheese sandwiches.

I dont think they smoke, at least not when I use it at home. And it's pretty small, non stick, so you can just wipe/scrub off when. Don't plan on using too much, but when going with a 19 yr old, the in between snacking can get expensive. (pizza, burgers, chicken fingers,..where does she put all that food:laughing:) Hoping she can just make a quick grilled cheese or hot dog instead. Didnt take up too much room in the box, so we'll see if it's worth bringing it or not for us..

I have one of the little ones in my Owner's Locker. It's great, and it holds two hamburger patties.

Crockpots are great to bring on vacation. Let the cooking happen while you visit the parks and come back to a villa with the fresh aroma of a tasty meal ready to be served. Enjoy your vacation.:cool1::banana:

My "must list" includes: Metal Crockpot (squarish type that sits on griddle and has a glass lid). Base can be used as griddle, metal pot goes into oven. Fits one large chicken perfectly and only the glass lid need be carried in "carry on"!

Oven bags (can hold pot roast, salisbury steaks, chicken or a turkey breast, etc.) Perfect for crock pot, glass baking dish or fast cleanup of any tray you may use. (be sure to have a bit of flour to coat the bag before use)

Non-stick frying pan (one large one with non-stick turner can save a lot of clean up time over stainless. This packs easily into suitcase.

Laundry bags (mesh)

Sandwich bags (for lunch sandwiches, veggies and fruit carried into park to avoid too many expensive and high calorie snacks)

Ice packs, hot packs, and an Insulated cooler bag or two (for carrying hot food into park; we've had some delicious hot meals on a cold evening along the parade route, the only problem is you make others jealous!)

Paper goods (plates, plasticware, small SOLO cups) to shorten clean ups.

microwave popcorn (small, single serving bags so popular at Halloween), great to plan in advance for parade sitting, or late evening shows!

Non-glass thermoses, again, great for tea, coffee, or soup during chilly evenings

Recently, I have become a Keurig fan, and I would have to consider bringing my personal size machine along to get a good, quick cup of coffee that still costs only about .30 cents!

Does the metal crock pot cook differently? I have thought about taking one and then leaving in my OL only concerned if it will take up too much room. Is there one better than another to store. Maybe I'll just pick up one while down there at Target or Walmart.

Also, I have mini Forman grill never used - how long does it take to cook burgers or chicken breast? I can put that in the OL.

Got to love the owners locker!

I'm thinking about bringing my big crockpot for our next trip (9 of us going, so we'll need the big one :) ). I'm also thinking about an electric skillet - it will make breakfast for 9 a whole lot quicker.
