Anyone bring a portable BBQ grill?

We just bought the coolest portable Weber Q220 grill tonight! We bought it with the intention of using it at Disney and Vero Beach, but it's so cool, that we can use it as our home grill too!

It has a cool rolling cart, and it folds up, so the BBQ salesperson said lots of people are using it for vacations. It's still a bit big, but we had to settle for the larger model, as it has the ability to use portable canisters and the big propane tanks for home.

So, anyone bring a portable grill to use at the BBQ area? I am pretty sure we can't use it on our balcony for safety reasons, but using it at the BBQ grill area is ok right?

We actually haven't BBQd at Disney yet, so we are looking forward to that this summer!

Thanks, Tiger

You are correct that you could not use it on a balcony. And grills are provided at the DVC resorts, so I doubt they want you using your own, simply for safety and liability concerns.

They would not be allowed on the unit or in the balcony. I don't think they'd be allowed anywhere at VB other than across the road. At WDW, likely on in the same type areas as the other grills. We had this discussion a number of years ago when we were going to VB, before they had any grills at all. We had requested to be near the BBQ grills (not knowing they didn't have them) and they said sure, no problem. Well as it turns out, they didn't have grills and in trying to make up for their mistake, they offered us several options including picking up and grilling the steaks or treating us to lunch (large group). We took the second option but part of the discussion was about bringing a portable grill and they said that was not an option.

I would agree that you probably can't use your grill on your villa's balcony. But I don't see why you couldn't use it at the BBQ area. The only problem I see is that because your grill will be hot, you'll have to leave it there for quite awhile to cool down.

A negative is that you'll have to transport your propane tank back and forth from home and store in your vehicle because you can't store a propane tank your villa either, it way too combustible.

You might want to just use the grills that are provided for your use at the resort. Even with cleaning it sounds like a lot less work.

Thanks. :(

This tank uses portable camping type gas units, so no big propane tank. That is only for home use.

We have no interest in using the grills at Disney as they use charcoal - yuck!

I honestly didn't think that using it at the grilling area would be an issue. But, we did kind of forget it would need to cool down a bit, so that could be a safety issue. Oh, dear...

Just told hubby, and he's pretty bummed. We bought it with the intention of using it on vacation, as our home grill is still ok. It cost $300.00 plus we need a few accessories and such - it has a cool rolling cart that the grill sits on, but you can also roll it around.

Not sure we can return it as we bought it at a specialized BBQ place, Tiger:(
