We have not cruised before but I really want to and really want to do Disney first!! We need to travel during summer break and DCL prices when we are out seem quite expensive. I have gotten prices from a few sources online. I did find some great (lower) quotes from expedia.com. Has anyone here booked a cruise through expedia? Could some of the companies (DU, allseas, micdan, etc.) mentioned on these boards beat expedia's pricing?? Thanks for your help and patience as we begin planning for a cruise. Your help and expert advice is greatly appreciated!!

I used Expedia for our first cruise, and would NEVER use them again.

I had constant problems getting my reservations done right (OK, Im an obsessive planner...)

And I called time and time again to find out where the docs were. They went to Expedia a month before the cruise, but they were unable to get them sent out.

I found them waiting for my on my doorstep AFTER we returned from the cruise.

Ive transferred my reservations to Dreams Unlimited ever since, and its been flawless. Ive referred others to them as well, and I would suggest you try them for your booking!

We booked through expedia, they were cheaper than any of the disney specialists. While I'd rather support the small independent people who know the product really well, we're pinching pennies on this trip and every $ counted... If you don't like expedia, travelocity and orbitz all had the same price.

Anyway, they've been fine so far, had no problem contacting them to deal with a large group dinner reservations. Now that disney allows you to book excursions, palo, etc on their website, you really don't have to do much with your travel agent anyway. If you need more handholding and want someone who can answer your questions, a disney specialist travel agent is probably a better bet however.

Thanks so much for the feedback!! Does anyone else have any experiences with expedia? I am probably going to feel better having a person to talk to because I, too, am pretty obsessive but I do want to get the lowest price out there! TIA!

Never used Expedia for a cruise, but used them for my Disney World Vacation. It was horrible. Expedia had never made payment for our hotel. It took 5 phone calls and 3 hours until we finally got a room at 10:00 o'clock at night. Apparently Expedia had never even made our reservation, much less sent our money to the hotel. I would never use them again. Try Orbitz.

I am one to cut costs anywhere that I can, providing it will not be at the expense of quality. That said, I shopped around and found Dreams Unlimited to offer virtually the same price as CheapTickets.com (who were lower priced than Expedia, Travelocity, and Orbitz). DU was $25 higher in total, which I realized well after the fact to be $25 lower than CT because one child was over 13 (hence an extra charge). They also agreed to add in the $50 Shipboard Credit that they offered shortly after I booked, bringing us to $75 lower than anywhere else. Plus we get the benefit of working with someone that will answer our questions, put in special requests for dinner rotation, etc.

I would highly recommend checking DU before booking.

We booked our Princess cruise last June for Oct. cruise through Expedia. Fantastic price, ZERO problems. We even got free coupon book, free bottle of wine & several free photos from them! AND Princess upgraded us from an interior to an exterior w/ a large window! Was a GREAT experience!

Expedia worked for us. It was the cheapest price and everything went smoothly. Got to choose our room. Had no problem with resevations once we were on board. :)

Interesting responses from both ends of the spectrum. We are looking at booking the Christmas sailing, and I've found that Expedia has the best price but I am wondering if they have the same deposit/cancellation/refund policy as DCL. Anybody know the details on this?

YES, I have use expedia many time to book.

They have better deals out there if you hunt around but Expedia does pretty good.

i think expedia has a cancellation fee on top of any fee that disney imposes. you might want to check on that but i'm pretty sure about it.

we used mouse ear vacations to book our trip. i love our TA!
