It's just another case of someone wanting support and/or validation for doing something they know is wrong. In fact, this post should not even be allowed on the board. It's a discussion of ways to cheat Disney. If you call Disney and ask them to book two resorts for the same dates and same people, they will tell you No, you can't do that.
wow! the OP did NOT "know" it was wrong. she ws only asking for advice.
, Disney wants people in their rooms. They do not want last minute cancellations that result in a room being unoccupied.
And I agree, it is rude. Pick a resort, and then if you change your mind, change your ressie.
the OP is looking for NEXT dec. (not exactly "last minute cancellation) and cancellations are ALWAYS good for those many people who are not "knowledgable in the ways of the mouse" as we dissers are; and there are MANY of them, believe me.
we dissers love to plan ahead. however, many codes come out AFTER we've made our ressies. case in point: how many of us made ressies in sept.; HOPING for the
free dining, but planning to cancel if it wasn't offered? knowledge is a powerful thing. kudos to us who know how to use it!!!

and you know what? Disney knows this, they plan on it and hope for it. hubby nebo and I have OFTEN made ressies we thought we probably wouldn't use but, hey, at that price... book it... just in case. that's why Disney loves us so much!!!! MANY times we go anyways.. just cause it's easier to NOT go to Disney if there's no ressies, but SO HARD to cancel... gee you already have your heart set on it!!!!

law of supply and demand.
if the resort you want is booked... call next week, or the next week. Disney loves it! and always try for the best deal you can get
Wow, who's got their knickers in a twist today? I just wanted some advice on how people decide between two hotels! Have YOU ever had that dilemma? If so, then share how you decided, otherwise,

.
Thanks to everyone else's input and the lively discussion!
And, by the way, the Swan is a Westin hotel, not a Disney hotel. Now, pass the popcorn please...
oh yeah! almost forgot. they ARE 2 dif. systems. we originally had ressies for free dining at 2 dif. disney resorts, sandwiched around a 3 night dolphin at an amazing $125 per night!!!! had to change to 2 weeks later, due to a work conflict. BUT>>> NEBO said.. "just don't cancel that Dolphin ressie yet" me.. "but we can't go.. work" nebo"you never know, the price is too good, never get that again, just don't cancel it. "ok"
so we made ressies for POR 2 weeks later, free dining, but held on to that 3 night Dolphin, even though we probably wouldn't use it. guess what?????
circumstances blew up in our faces. hubby's company went under. decided to go to florida to check out jobs, living, etc (since he was out of work anyway) and GUESS which ressies we ended up using that we were so glad we didn't cancel? AND stayed an extra couple nights at a value (thereby giving Disney our money)
yup, don't listen to the "holier than thou" people. do what fits your budget and work the system. disney makes out in the long run. that is the reason they have cancellation fees.
