Anyone book a year in advance?

I booked my upcoming cruise 20 months in advance and the advancages are 1) better choice of staterooms 2) lower pricing tier (prices go up closer to sailing) and 3) more likely to get the dining seating (early or late) that you prefer.

I booked in Jan 2004 for our trip in June 2005. We are going on the land/sea package. I got the sph room we wanted and a better price than if we had waited to book later--and I am sure we wouldnt have got the sph room! Booking early is definately a bonus for us---I have always booked my trips that far out---I always get what I want that way.....:smooth:

It's nice to have something fantastic to look forward to as well as plenty of time to save money for the cruise.

One major advantage to me is the money I saved....by the time our cruise that I booked a year in advacne was 3 months from sailing the price had went up 2,000 for the same catagory room I had...now to me that was well worth booking in advance!

We book atleast a year in advance ON THE SHIP...

To get the best possible price 10 % discont and $200.00 on board credit of course this will not work if it is your first cruise..
But once booked we transfer our reservation to Dreams unlimited to get even further discounts.. and That other company has not been able to touch the prices we have recieved...

Aslo u can request a certain Room that u like and can usually get it... like for our next cruise in Oct.. we requested one of the 4 recently downgraded from cat 5 to cat 7 rooms and Got one we liked..

We book a year in advance (at least) while on board, that is when you get the best deal, we always get the cabin and seating we want too be so far out.

We didn't book onboard last May because we had other plans for 2004. Then in June they announced the 10 day Christmas Cruise. We changed our plans and booked it the first day! One year down - 6 months to go. Price for our cabin has already gone up over $1000.

Booked November '02 for Aug '04 cruise ... 21 months in advance ... mmmm, yeah I like to plan ahead.

Also since I was taking my kids (2) and grandkids (3) this gave me time to save up!

Booked our next trip, Christmas 2005 while on board April.......

I think almost our entire 12/18 10 day Christmas thread booked at least a year early. The last person to join our thread was about 1 month ago, and she said that she got the last cat 9 available. For the special itineraries, if you don't book early, they may sell out (at least of the cat and location you want). We booked in early Nov 2003, and couldn't get a cat 10 on deck 7. We're waitlisted but are in cat 10s on deck 2.

We booked our December 4th Western in June of 2003. I priced our cabin last week and the price went up $1,000 for the four of us. (Also went up an additional $1,000 for my brother and his family who will be traveling with us). That $1,000 per family will cover all of our transportation costs--airline tickets for eight plus three legs of ground transportation using Tiffany.

Also, we intend to re-book on board for the farthest out cruise they will allow then transfer to Dreams Unlimited.

I knew lots of folks were trying to get those cat. 1 - 3 cabins. I thought for a minute you had found the secret with the "beek" it thing!
;)

We booked a little over a year in advance.

We always book at least 18 months in advance. We booked on May 5th for the August 20, 2005 sailing!

Great advantages are:

1. Better pricing (EBS -- early booking savings as DCL calls it).
The more the ship sells out, the higher the rates.

2. Better choice of rooms.

3. Amenities -- sometimes TA's offer onboard credits, etc. if you book by a certain date.

4. More time to pay it off! I like having 12 months to pay it off. We just finished paying on our cruise for this August and will start making payments on the cruise for 2005. I'm sure while on that cruise, we'll probably book for 2006!
