There will by 8 of us flying Delta for a week at WDW in March with one of our party returning mid-week, so I need 7 tickets RT from Fri. to the following Sat. and one from Fri. to Tues. I really don't need any screw ups so I'd like to deal with a human to get it right the first time. Any experiences with this recently and what are the pros & cons of e-ticket vs. paper?

Thanks,

I bought a ticket over the phone recently with no problems. However, you could definitely do what you need to do on delta.com and won't have to worry about the reservationist understanding what you're trying to do. It's up to you, and there really shouldn't be any difference, but I would still do it on the web. I feel that I have much more control and can actually see the reservation I'm making.

I recommend an e-ticket over a paper ticket. Besides, you may get charged more for a paper ticket if it's e-ticket eligible. Keep in mind that if you call to make your reservation, it will still be an e-ticket unless you specify that you want a paper ticket. But then, you have to keep up with 8 paper tickets, and not loose them.

Unless things have changed, I don't think doing what he wants on the web will be possible. If I remember correctly, in order to purchase multiple tickets, they all have to be the same, and the credit card holder has to be one of the passengers, and the max number of tickets purchased is 4.

So to do this online, OP would have to purchase tickets for himself and three other people with a CC in his name.

Another person in their party with a CC in their name would have to purchase tickets for themself and two other people.

The person with the seperate itinerary would have to have a CC and purchase their own ticket online.

So the OP may have to do this over the phone.

I just checked Delta.com and their drop down menu goes to 7 passengers, so what the OP wants to do would only take two transactions.

However, the person that needs the different itinerary would still have to do a seperate transaction and would need his own credit card. The credit card holder must be one of the passengers.

I can't say for sure about Delta, but I have purchased tickets for other people on a few occasion without being on the reservation. The persons name on the CC needs to be put in, but I didn't have any problems. I also have found that I get much better deals online then when I call reservations myself.

Unless he is related to all the people in his party, Bill will have to call and make the reservations. Unless things have changed lately, Delta does not allow 3rd party reservations on the website.

Thanks for all the valuable input. I heard second-hand about Delta's 'relatives only' reservation policy, and unless my 18 yr. old son marries his girl friend before I get the tickets, we'll be short one relative. I'll just call Delta and get the e-tickets from a human. My main fear was booking the 7 who will be there for the week and then finding that I couldn't get mom on the same flight down with us as I'd have to do her transaction separately due to her early return. By dealing with a person I can explain this and get us all on the same plane then get a return flight for her.

On Nov 9 I called to order tickets for our flight next Sept. and used two different credit cards.
Ok Heres what I did.
I told human on phone I needed two tickets one for me one for my daughter but needed to pay for them on different credit cards. She went into the computer and assigned us both seats before doing any credit card information. That way I way sure to have my daughter next to me not the other person that might be online ordering right then.
The tickets are two different reservations. Both in my name but the passenger on the second ticket is my daughter. We both have Skymiles numbers and I made sure the person on phone put them in there.
As long as the person flying back early is your relative then you can make reservation and pay for it with your card. They did not ask how old she was (age could of shown up with Skymiles number)
If you have any problems hang up and call back....just like CRO not every person knows the same stuff.

(I used my daughters nickname on a reservation and wanted to apply her Skymiles account number about three months after I bought tickets...was told that the names are different .the system will not link them together. Well I called back and the second person asked me what the names were and I told her and guess what as long as the first three letters of first name are the same it will work..Corey=Corrine (Corey is nickname)
so she did get credit for the miles. Just one example of try try again.)

I hope all goes well for you when you call Delta.

Lori,

Thanks for the encouragement. My situation will be 7 passengers, one not related, going from Fri. through the following Sun. and one, related, from Fri. - Tues. all on one card. Dealing with a Delta agent should eliminate my concerns, but I'll be sure to try, try again if I don't succeed at first!
