Anyone been upgraded from POR to OKW/SSR?

Personally this annoys me I don't earn alot of money people cant belive I get out of bed for the money I earn but I work and Save save save for my WDW holiday and we decided we would pay more as it is special occasion now knowing that people who paid less will get the same I have saved hard for

Rant over had a really bad think Im just stressed :lmao:

If it makes you feel any better the rooms at PO and at SSR/OKW with the 42% were about the same price. Those of us who booked the mod specifically wanted the mod or specifically wanted the QSDP (in my case both). At least you don't have to give up your resort for someone getting a bump up.

Same here, we looked at OKW and there wasn't that much in it but we wanted PO and the QSDP as the full dining plan doesn't suit our needs and I didn't really want a studio. To be honest I don't think it's worth stressing over, it wouldn't be the first time we have been away to a hotel and found that others have got it at half what we paid because they took a late booking . I don't think the studio's are a great upgrade although the 1 bedroom villas obviously are but I don't suppose everyone is going to be able to get one as the letter does state it is a first come first served basis so there could be a lot of disappointed people. Personally I was more than happy to book FQ and will be just as happy if I still go there.

But the upgraders (is that even a word  ) are being offered a 1 bed at OKW which was more expensive... well it was when we booked it

Well done to everyone that was upgraded and I hope you enjoy OKW as it's a lovely resort

Thats how upgrades work though. Anyone wanting it has to pay,

Im happy with what i have booked for Im annoyed I have saved hard to pay for what I want when some are getting a free upgrade from a different hotel

room upgrades I think are fine and a nice bonus but a hotel upgrade is different in my eyes

personally I think this will be the last time we ever stay onsite

Hotel price SSR £1,400
Hotel Price PORS (POFQ not showing) £1,176

thats £224 more Im not on about then paying more for the DDP because that isnt what Disney are offering in the hotel upgrade

I paid £1880 for POFQ. (It doesn't show at the moment because there has been no availability for some time now). At the time I booked last year the SSR 42% offer had not been released. When I read about it, out of curiosity I priced it up. It was nominally more expensive (a couple of hundred pounds) which I put down to dining plan.

I'm not trying to prove you wrong - I just don't want you to feel worse than you need to  The more you think about it now, the more it's going to be on your mind when you are there and you don't want that. Does that make sense?

I do understand where you are coming from though. Being a single parent, even although I can't say I skimp and scrape on my income, I do have to forfeit a lot of things in my lifestyle to get the cash together to do it the way I want it. I think we are in good company in that department. It's a shame upgrades offers aren't transferrable - if they were and I got one, I honestly wouldn't hesitate to pass it to you.

There is nothing that can be done about it. It is the way it is. (FWIW, if this was an argument about what was actually fair, I would be behind you all the way :)). But as other posters have said, Disney makes decisions from a business perspective and that doesn't usually blend in well with our pleasurable expectations. :scared:

It's just mho, but that's a wasted emotion and a tad bit naive. Disney isn't in the business for being handing out free stuff. They're a business that is geared towards making money, plane and simple. They've seen a high demand for the mods during the free dining. Such a high demand, they need to make more space to be able to make more sales. Upgrading folks already booked to another resort makes total sense to do that. Folks will not move unless they're given a big enough incentive, after all most will have booked a resort for a reason and not because they don't care where they'll be staying.

Upgrading those already booked at SSR and OKW, obviously resorts with availability to spare, does not make ANY economical sense to Disney. And thus they are not offering this upgrade to those guests. Just like guests booked at CSR apparently aren't getting the offer.

While Disney has lots of pixie dust surrounding it, in the end they are a business and will make offers based upon economics. This time some folks booked at POR, POFQ and CBR can benefit from that. In september folks can benefit from free dining. Guests from the EU can benefit from a very steep 42% off of SSR and OKW including free dining at various times and the offers go on and on. Pure economics.
Excuse me!! I dont think giving free dining is a comparison:confused3. People go at certain times of the year because they choose to;they book at these times because they have to (school holidays etc); and because they have a budget.I have no problems with other peoples comments, illiterate or otherwise, however I'm neither naive nor bedazzled with 'pixie dust'. Patronizing those with a genuine complaint does you no justice.(IMHO)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exactley my point.Im a single mom and saved hard for this. Like you I am happy with my studio despite other peoples opinions and I know people that are offered an upgrade especially couples or small families that can benefit from the DDP is a no brainer BUT I understand that some may have picked a resort for the theming or because they wanted to really stay there and dont want the upgrade. I have stayed at POR/CBR/OKW and to be honest preferred CBR to OKW but thats my own personal thought and if offered this upgrade like others have said weighing up the pros and cons of each is the decider. Now I am not gonna say anymore on this as some people obvioulsy think people who are booked in OKW and SSR should be happy with what they have and cant see the rationalle behind my and other OKW/SSR guests annoyance.

All I can say is I'm truely sorry you feel that way.

I agree, if Disney want me to move then they have to make it worth my while after all it's what I have been planning for months and I certainly am not going to move to something we dismissed when we booked.

I am sure if you search the resorts boards you will find plenty of people who have been ugraded for whatever reason it's what Disney does when they need to but they also know you want them to move then the move has to be irrisistable otherwise it won't happen.

The problem with booking holidays to WDW is that to get specific dates you need to book very early and might well miss out on the offers - we missed free dining last year by a matter of days but we didn't let it make us unhappy as we had got what we had originally booked and paid for.

It's up to me to decide at what point I need to book and then to be sure I am happy with what I am getting at that time. What deal someone else gets is irrellevant once my holiday is booked.

I look at it the the context of buying a dress, you see it and like it so buy it, the next day that dress might be in the sale with 75% off, you could have waited to see if the dress goes into the sale but then they might not have your size and you miss out. If you want a 1 bed villa you should book it, if not got with a studio and you might get a lucky upgrade.

Disney are in this to make money, upgrading people from a studio to a 1 bed isn't going to help them, moving people from PO is helping them.

In the long run we want Disney to make money, that way they'll keep improving the parks and they will be able to give out pixie dust.

You paid £1880 just for hotel the price I quoted isn't for tickets or any thing?

I agree with you too Im not getting any one just venting really I have a mortgage, getting married this year and paying for an expensive honey moon! I get paid minimum wage for my age it has taken me 13 months to save for this holiday I just feel like its rubbing salt in the wounds for all my hard work to pay for Our honeymoon in total including flights hotel tickets for disney and universal is £2967 (that could of paid of a bit of our mortgage) I just feel like I shouldn't of bothered booking SSR and should of booked POFQ like originally planned and would of been better of with a free upgrade to a 1 bed villa!

I dont expect any thing for free we dont go around wearing Im celebrating badges just for the sake of it
1 I dont want the attention and
2 like I said im not on holiday for freebies

I think if people have booked a basic room at PO they should only be offered a studio at SSR or OKW and people that have paid more for their rooms like the king size rooms or water views should be offered the 1 bed villas. Especially if there are only 2 people to a room being offered a villa whilst people paid for SSR and aren't getting any upgrade what so ever

Rant over (I hope :lmao:)

But congratulations to all you that got an upgrade

Same with me I don't do any of the above and certainly don't ask for anything I haven't paid for but if Disney are going to offer us an upgrade and the incentive is there then I would seriously consider it.

I don't blame you for turning down an upgrade what I am getting at is that people who are already at SSR are going to be worse of then the ones with a free upgrade to a villa

I understand that and I WOULD be annoyed about it. It's not so much the upgrade, it is the fact that they are offering the option of a 1 bed to someone who booked a room.

EXACTLY

Do you know really upsets me that if we dont even get our block request I will be really upset that some people may get it that have already been lucky enough to have a hotel upgrade

I shouldn't think it should affect your block requests. Requests are always a bit of a gamble anyway, but if you've put yours in already you should still have the same chances of getting what you asked for.

Slightly off topic but what's the best way to put in a block request? It's a month tomorrow til we go so will get onto it now trying to request Congress Park :)

:goodvibes
