Anyone been to WDW on the 4th of July?

The fireworks at MK are wonderful. I will be there this year and hope to be off in time to see them.

I would plan on getting to the park that you want to see the fireworks in early because the crowds were unbelieveable when we were there for the fourth. Also we had a really hard time trying to get a bus anywhere after 5 because of the amount of people trying to get to parks. We ended up having to take a cab to make our dinner reservation on time. Also, we ended up at the boardwork when the fireworks started and we were able to have a pretty good view of both the MGM and Epcot fireworks. Have fun on the fourth.

I do remember they gave out small American Flag pins when I was there. Also, we stayed at POFQ and they had a special 4th of July BBQ by the pool with barbeque chicken, corn on the cob, watermelon, etc.

Does anyone know whether any of the other resorts doing anything special like that for the 4th. We have a PS at WCC, but if GF was having a poolside barbeque I'd rather pay for that then to leave the resort for dinner. We really don't want to be in the parks the night of the 4th (going to Epcot early in the day). If GF had a barbeque that would be perfect!

We are planning on spending the day at one of the water parks then going to dinner at O'hana's; is this a good idea? Will we be able to see the MK fireworks?

I sure am hoping so because we are doing the same thing !! :teeth: I have been told and have read on these boards that the view of the fireworks from 'Ohana's is great !! :cool1: So, let's both hope for the best and maybe all 10 of us will see you there !! :sunny:

The contemporary had an event last yr. did not attend because thought the price was expensive but where this event was held you could probably see all the fireworks from that window and also had music piped. I would love to hear from anyone who went to this event .

I saw this listed on ALL Ears. Can you say VERY expensive? $189 for adults and $49 for kids. It would cost me over $350 for my family to eat dinner there!

Hi Tiggrbaby, our plan is like yours almost.. we are heading to Blizzard Beach for the day and then have reservations for the Hoop Dee Doo at 5 pm then will head over to the Campfire and Movie and hope to see maybe fireworks from the beach ? I will be looking for all the Lime Green.. Michelle

We were at SSR then transfered over to POR for a few days. I don't recall anything special happening at POR on the 4th.

We spent the day at Epcot, arriving later in the day. We didn't think the crowds were too bad at all. Longest wait was for TT, with a fastpass it was something crazy--over an hour but I can't remember off hand the exact time. I have posted it on here before though. It took that long because they kept shutting down due to thunderstorm activity.
Everything else was fine.

I know they had special events at the American pavilion, but at the time I totally forgot about it and we didn't get to check them out. Drum and Fife Corps, I believe characters dressed in period costume, stuff like that.

We watched the fireworks from in front of the pagoda in Japan. They were amazing. Bonus is that we were able to see much of the fireworks from MGM as well from that spot.

Last year I remember people complaining about MK fireworks. That the park was wall to wall people, a lot of rude behavior and fights breaking out and the fireworks were not as spectacular as they were in years before.

I would go to Epcot on that day again in a heartbeat.

BTW, we really didn't think the parks were too bad before or after the holiday. We just avoided MK on the Fri, Sat and Sun.
We don't get up early either, we usually make it into a park after 10am.

Hi mimimom! I know exactly what you mean! When we picked our our flooring for our kitchen and family room, we looked for colors/materials that would hide dirt well and be easy to clean!

Hey, I remember that! *laughs*

My family and I were there 6/26-7/5 2004... I don't recall anything special besides the fireworks. If you must go into a park on the 4th, I suggest you either avoid MK completely or just visit in the AM. Getting out of the park was a nightmare! I'm sure you can watch the fireworks from another location.

I was thinking of doing Animal Kingdom on the 4th of July and then going to a resort for dinner to watch the fireworks. How does this sound?? I thought maybe AK would be least crowded on the 4th since no fireworks?

Although, at EPCOT we could spend most of the day happily without doing rides by going through all the country's gift shops and eating at all the counter service.
