How is Tanque Verde Ranch? Is it worth the points and are the points per family with all food included?

We went to the Tanque Verde Ranch in March. It was fabulous! The points listed on the points chart (in a range, I believe) are for the first two people in the room. There are additional points required for each additional person in the room (kind of like a cruise). The points cover all meals, riding lessons, trail rides, guided hikes, guided mountain biking and other activities. We thought that it was a great value for the points required, particularly since all of the meals and activities are included. The ranch has great riding programs for both kids and adults. We met three other DVC families while we were there, and really enjoyed getting to know them. The food was good, and plentiful. The setting, adjacent to Saguaro National Park, is spectacular. We had one of the moderate rooms, and it was next to a very pretty courtyard, where we could hang out and relax after a long day of riding.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions that you might have!!!

We went a couple of years ago and it was fantastic. We will be going back again either next year or the year after. We had a one bedroom unit, with double bed in one room and two single beds in the other, however, next time we will just go for one room and save the points, we were all very tierd and went to bed at 8.30 so two rooms was not necessary really.

Hi we were there last summer and stayed for a week, it was fabulous except you don't want to go during the summer it was very very hot. The point rate is for the first 2 adults, we were told that for the children we could pay separate after we got there and as it happened when they found out we were DVC members they charged us nothing for our boys (16 and 17 years old) so they ate as adults and were able to do everything and no extra charge, it is probablY a matter of luck as to who you get at the front desk. This year we were at the White Swan in San Francisco and the same thing happened to us we did not have to pay for the boys. We try to every summer at least 3 of the concigiere collections or adventure packages, and this year we did 5 in California. Some are much better than others.

We love Tanque Verde Guest Ranch. Since we usually stay at my mother's home in Tucson, we have never stayed at the ranch. However, we have been there many times during the past 20 years for dinners and lunch.

The ranch is beautiful and has wonderful mountain/desert views. The food is great and you will likely find guests from many countries.

Tucson has many things to do and is easy to get around. The city thoroughly embraces the University of Arizona and you will find people of all ages (even snowbirds) take advantage of the arts/sports/museums/planetarium on campus.

The Arizona Desert Museum is on the opposite side of the city, but it is a beautiful drive through Gates Pass where you will see huge saguaro cacti. The museum is an annual must do for my 9 year old daughter. She loves the desert, the animals, and the very friendly docents.

You will find great places to eat in Tucson and a cheap must have is an Eegee. It is a frozen slush made from fresh fruit. GREAT way to quench the thirst in July before the monsoons!

Another great place is La Fuente. This well established restaurant is family owned and attracts both locals and tourists. The chimichangas, cheese crisp, and made-at-your-table guacamole are fabulous.

Highly recommend Tanque Verde! We went in March last year and weather was perfect! (70's?) We got there just before the spring breakers and were told we were just missing the crowds. Met 4 other DVC families while there. So many activities that hardy anyone sat by the pool-we felt like we had it all to ourselves. Point value is very reasonable. I had considered renting my points to pay cash for the trip, but it came out about the same price both ways. Gorgeous scenery, great food, excellent activity selection. I am not a horse person, but we rode at least two trail rides per day and I loved it--especially the pancake breakfast ride. It was fun sitting with different guests at meal times and getting to know so many people. We did the bike trail ride, a watercolor class, and had a massage in the room too. I would love to go again, but want to try other great concierge places too!
