Anyone been to Put in Bay?

Hey everyone...

We (meaning my DH and I ) are considering a day trip to put-in-bay this Saturday.
Has anyone been there? I tried to search the boards but it is down again.

We have never been there. We were also thinking if the weather was bad, we would just go the Rock and Roll Hall of fame.

The kids will be at home, and we would just like a day together.
Any suggestions?

Yep, we used to go once or twice each year for a few years -- it's a great place for a day trip! (...or overnight trip, if you happen to partake in beverages for a while! ) We used to hop the ferry over, grab a bite, maybe rent a tandem bike and check out the whole island, Perry's monument, etc. Very relaxing.

We went some years back, and really liked it! Unless things have changed, I would recommend renting a bike as Steve said ~ because it was somewhat of a walk to get to the little town from the ferry drop off.

I would say ~ GO FOR IT! A day away is way worth it!!

Yes, we have been there and loved it! It is a cool little island and fun to explore. I definitely recommend bike or golf cart rental.

Thanks for the replies everyone! We just got back.

We had a great time, except for the chain incident.
The chain kept falling off the tandem bike we rented.

It was an overcast day, but it was fun.
The memorial is amazing! We could not go up in it because the elevator was out of commission.

We will go back, but this time, we will go during the week and rent a golf cart.
Much easier to get around in those than the bike.
On our way home we stopped in Bucyrus. They had a cruise in.
There were over 800 old cars.....my husband really liked that part of the day!

Glad to hear you had a nice "time away"!! Sorry to hear you had bike problems..............at least you had a bike!! When we were there we chose not to ~ ~ ~ what a mistake that was!!

We were in Toledo & Mansfield, OH Memorial Day weekend for some racing, and we went through Buckyrus on our way home!

My husbands family lives in Port Clinton!

If I would have seen this post before you went, I would have suggested renting a golf cart, thats what we did, and had a nice tour of the island without getting tired from pedaling a bike.
