Help me plan a Vero Beach wedding .
I have this posted on Disney wedding board but felt there might be some Vero Beach Dvc members that could be of great help on this topic, so here goes.

My DD planss to have a Beach wedding at Vero Beach next May. I found the following site for the wedding
http://yourverobeachwedding.com/default.aspx

Has anyone ever heard of them?
They will preform the wedding, arrange for flowers, ect.

Also, I need lots of help on the reception plans. I have a beach cottage for the day before and day of the wedding (hope to add more days at 7 months).
I figure there will be 12 to 20 people total (not all staying at Beach cottage, just at wedding).

How large of a cake will we need. My daughter would like it to be teired?
Where to get cake, I was told by someone at vero that Publics and Sams club makes wedding cakes. Do they set them up?

What would be a nice lunch meal (morning wedding).
My Daughter mentioned whole ham with pinapples, but not sure if I want to cook to much on wedding morning. If I did, what could go with it that would be simple to make?

Maybe instead just have meat trays from sams club??

Please help me out , I am not good at planning stuff like this. I also have no talent in decorating

Thanks Tigger

Yes this was moved to Disney wedding thread. I read those post. Many DVC members may not go to the Disney wedding board. On that board, all I ever see is post from weddings at Disney, not Vero. I was hoping for replies from Dvc members who have been to Vero.

Thanks for trying to help out

I know I read something on the DIS wedding boards about a wedding at VB. It was probably a year or so ago.

They had it on the croquet ground, I don't think the resort allowed it on the beach. There was someone at the resort who helped, pointed them in directions for floral, cake etc.

I know they have a few private meeting rooms at the resort.

Have you called the resort?

I can't help much with the where to get what's at Vero but can report that when we were there in May we watched a wedding on the croquet lawn. I took a couple of pictures which I'll try and find if you would like to see them.

My impression (and not verified) was that it was held by the VB hotel itself so you might also contact them or maybe the central WDW wedding planning and see what they recommend. I was a wedding planner at a theme park and often the locations themselves will have a planning sheet with recommendations of where to get items even if you don't book with them. They ought to be able to help with the cake. One thing on the cake is to find out if your daughter wants to keep the top tier for the 1 year anniversary. Then you have to remember to order enough so it doesn't get eaten! :lmao:

For the wedding we witnessed they set up a couple of hours ahead of time and during the ceremony directed other visitors to different walking routes so as not to disturb the ceremony. There was also a short reception on the lawn after the ceremony and the photographer took pictures of the wedding party and guests during that time as well.

We've seen weddings at Disney's Vero Beach on two seperate occassions - in both cases the ceremony and reception was held on the croquet lawn. It was very pretty - although the ocean is not actually visible from the lawn.

It may be a little weird to have strangers watching and even photographing your wedding from the Green Cabin Room. (Okay, I admit - I took pictures - it was so pretty).

I have also seen a couple weddings and receptions at Vero.
I now bring a suit to Vero so I can blend in and go for the free food and drink..

Yes, it's never a good idea to get married in a tourist area if you're very reclusive! I have pictures from another wedding in the MK that was going on while we were on the Key's to the Kingdom tour.

We got married on a beach at Hawaii and I've often wondered if we're on someone else's vacation pics! :rotfl: Seriously though, at the time I was a bit preoccupied with what was happening with us and other than having a vague idea that others were watching it didn't bother me at all. Kinda fun actually!

LOL! I'd be leery of the heat/humidity in May. If your daughter's hair is one iota less than perfect, it may look like crap in her wedding pictures. I know a bag over my head would be my only solution if it was me :rotfl:

I would definitely call the resort, they may have specific rules regarding weddings on the grounds, including "authorized" refreshments and service providers, where a reception or ceremony may be held, etc. That should be your first step before getting too involved in planning menus or locations. (772) 234-2000.

Given a choice (and assuming it is a small famly type wedding) finger sandwiches and assorted salads, if you are allowed to make your own foods, would be nice for a luncheon wedding in May. And they hold well, so you can do them the night before rather than have to fuss over them too much before the ceremony.

Since this really is a wedding planning thread, and not a more general DVC planning thread, and since I assume, you have not yet spoken with the resort to confirm any requirements or restrictions, I'm going to go ahead and close it. Please do post any updates or continuing plans on the Wedding board. Thanks.
