We are taking a short trip to Niagara Fallas next week...I found a place called "Marineland " on the web...it looks a bit like Seaworld (But much cheaper, $32 canadian, kids under 5 free). They have shows, and rides. I thought if we spent the day here (for less money), it would "replace " us going to SeaWorld when we go to Orlando (at $50 each). (we already have Dis and US tickets purchased, so the Seaworld thing would be an extra expense)
here is the website

thanks for any comments

We just got back from S. Ontario. We go every year to see my family. This time we didn't even get to the Falls, but we did go to Marineland 2 yrs ago. It was fun and the kids had a great time. It is a much, much smaller scale of SeaWorld, however it is fun.

Not too far from the Falls is another attraction called Zooz - a zoo like walking park. It is kinda fun. We did that last year.

The kids saw billboards for Marineland and asked to go. They also saw signs for Zooz and asked to go. Neither were in the plans for this summer, because of our trip to WDW. I gave them the choice, Marineland or WDW. Needless to say they picked WDW.

If you are looking for a fun attraction while at Niagara Falls then Marineland would be good. I'm not sure it would "replace" SeaWorld, but by going to ML you could put SeaWorld off until another trip to FL.

Have Fun.

We went there as part of our trip to Niagra Falls and had a great time. It is a smaller version of SeaWorld, but we still had fun. We had a blast feeding the bears marshmellows that they sell in ice cream cones.

Living in Ontario I have been to Marineland a few times. It's okay, I find it very difficult enjoying other theme parks now that I have experienced the best in Florida.

As others have said it is not as grand as seaworld. I would say as long as your expectations aren't too high you will enjoy it. It is definitely not Seaworld but can be a fun way to pass a day!

Well.... living in Ont and having been to Marineland a few times as well as Sea world in Ohio.... I don't find Marineland has nearly as many attractions or is even as good as Seaworld. For the price it's not bad but wouldn't be my choice as a place to spend my money at.

If you are staying in that area Zooz is nice (mentioned above) and my sil said the bird aviary is neat too. There's also the butterfly place in niagara that's neat.

I also agree with the Aviary (not huge, but really well done) and the Butterfly Conservatory and Gardens. We've been to both numerous times. The Aviary is near the Rainbow Bridge and has three main rooms. The first room is small birds in a large caged area (I was worried at this point). The second room is my favorite. It is the nocturnal room and has other animals also. It is very well themed like Disney. The third room has a huge floor to ceiling waterfall and has large birds free flying around (Toucans, etc...). They also have a Lorikeet feeding area which my kids loved.

The Butterfly conservatory is neat too. Amazing free flying butterflies! Wear yellow or pink (flower colors) and they will land on you. I even had one land on my camera and lay an egg! The gardens surrounding the Conservatory are beautiful too and well worth the walking!

Have Fun!

Marineland was worth the trip for us for two reasons. One, you get to touch the whales for free during certain times (how often do you get that chance) and Two, you can feed the bears in the pit, also something I have never done elsewhere. There is a lot of walking and space between attractions, and long long lines for the rides, but it is decent for the shows. Definately worth a look

It is ok and sort of a small scale sea world. You can also get coupons, to knock a bit more off the price as well. Many available all over the place once you get near the "tourist" stuff--your price shild not be more than $18.00 US. We took our kids there prior to their first trip to WDW to save a few dollars, they were young and had a great time. The first year I taught I also took my whole class of 6th graders there--I got to ride the coaster 27 times that day! Be prepared for a lot of unattractive walking--by that I mean it is just fences and greenspace--no landscaping no visuals between the animal life and ride attractions. My DS was almost 5 when we went the last time and now at 12 he still has bad vibes from their mascot--King Waldorf--he was last in line on a very humid summer day and the walrus pushed him to move him away after the greeting. DS still mentions this every once in a while, something like 'traumatic meet and greet'!
If you go, have fun, I'm thinking of taking my nephews there since they rarely get to go places like this.

We have been to Marineland 3 or 4 times - but not since my kids were 3 and 6. We had a good time. It's very easy to see everything and not feel rushed to do so. The thing we didn't like was the price - especially for food! We found the admission price high as well. If you're able to pack a picnic lunch, that would be the thing to do. They have a nice picnic area there.

We went to Niagara for the 1st time in June. We did not do maineland however, I wanted to say that the one thing we loved was the Maid of the Mist boat ride into the falls! That was really fun and although it won't take up a whole day it is one of those things that you can't do elsewhere. We decided against Marineland because we were only going to be in the area for 2 days and wanted to concentrate on the falls and attractions for it.

We had lots of fun though and stayed at the embassy suites fallsview it was very nice. Would love to go back again someday and ride that boat again!

I just went there with my kids.. I planned a HomeSchool trip there.. if anyone is interested in planning a group event, the tickets are $7.75 per child and adults are $22.00.. you just need 15 kids to qualify for that rate. for every 5 children 16 and under one adult gets in a youth rate and for every 10 youth one adult gets in free..
if someone wants to plan a Dis-meet there it is worth the savings!

I was there last June and all my kids had a blast. Never been to Seaworld but we have nothing like either here so it was a huge treat. We went when it had just opened for the season and it was really dead. No lines for anything. Spent 9 1/2 hrs there. I can't say it wasn't pretty but they don't have much to entertain you if you can't do the rides. ( I was 6 months PG when I went) I say it's worth the money. My DS still remembers it and he was only 2.

The Butterfly place was great too!!
