Anyone been to Kmart lately?

I went to my local Kmart today, and there was NO ONE to check me out! I don't know if they all called in sick, or what, but there was ONE cashier and she was at the customer service desk. We had to wait 20 min till someone came and opened the Fitting room door, after going up front and finding the manager. I know Martha is having problems, but is the company having problems due to Martha?

Most of the K-Marts in my area have closed down. Before they did close, the customer service was much as you described it.
I guess we all know why they are closing!

I went to my local K-Mart last weekend to look for large index cards for a project my daughter was doing at school. They didn't have them but I decided to walk through K-Mart since I had n't been there in a long time. I thought the store looked awful. The merchandise seemed really, really shoddy. There is a K-Mart near my parent's house and whenever I go there the stuff looks much better. I go to Target fairly frequently and their stuff is much better quality wise.

I was in K-Mart last week. There was one cashier in the cigarette lane. All the self check-outs have been closed.

All of ours have closed too, but before they closed it was horrible. I actually tried to make a return once and couldn't because of the two women at the customer service desk neither of them spoke English. I made a complaint with the manager who told me he gets who he can. The other one in the area was just as bad, I had a checker telling me that even though what I had was pictured in the ad it wasn't on sale. Then she started screaming "I need help" and actually turned to me at one point and said "I'm doing this for you, I know I'm right" I told her to keep the crap - I wasn't about to give them my money. A woman grabbed me outside and told me that the manager reemed the woman a new one in front of everyone for what she did but I didn't care at that point - I went to Target and didn't have to deal with cruddy service!

The one that's open by my Grandma is downright scary, like bring your pepper spray and pray scary.

I'll just stick to Target!

Its really sad once you think about it. This was at 10:00am in the morning too, it had been opened since 8:00am. I have another Kmart I can go too, but we were 3 blocks from this one, so we went, next time forget it.

I never liked K-Mart and it's been several years since I've been in one. After a K-Mart cashier stole my VISA card, I said I would never go in one again. I was preoccupied with my dd and never noticed she didn't return my VISA card at the end of the transaction. I noticed the next day the card was missing. Then my cc company was calling about a lot of charges on my cc. This is a dumb criminal story. The first place she started using my credit card was in the K-Mart she worked in AND she used her employee discount to save me a little money. Wasn't that sweet and stupid of her?! I filed a police report and told the policeman that she is working at the store right now and he took off to the K-Mart and arrested her.

I really like our Kmart!!!! It probably depends on the manager, which can be said for alot of stores!

Most of the K-marts around here closed also, about a year and a half ago. There are one or two left, but when I have been in them they are dirty, disorganized, with ZERO help. As someone else said, their days are numbered. I only go for some of the Martha Stewart stuff. Despite her recent "problems" I have always liked her housewares stuff. I have her curtains in two rooms, her bath rugs in one bathroom, and several other household accessories around............................P

The last time I was in our local K-Mart (3 years ago) it was liked I stepped into a third world country.

Most of the KMarts around here closed. The few that are open are dirty and disorganized and there never seem to be any employees around.

The one closest to me now mostly sells merchandise that is labeled in Spanish-- even the electronics! That was very strange!

The last time I went to that KMart there was a scary crazy guy wandering around the parking lot harrassing/intimidating people for handouts, and though someone told a KMart employee about it they didn't seem to care. I vowed I'd never go back.
