Anyone been to Jiko lately?

we're off to AKL soon, so I was wondering how the restaurant is lately? We are bringing our son with us. He did great there when he was 4. Las time we split appetizers. What are some of the better entrees?

does december count as lately? it was fabulous as usual!! my husband had the filet w/the mac and cheese. wonderful. i had the kenyan coffee BBQ chicken flatbread and a salad. it was very filling and great. go for it; you will be glad you did!!

We ate there on May 20th. The food was wonderful and the service was great! I had the beef filet, which was excellent. I can't remember what everyone else in our party had, but everyone enjoyed it. Our kids (4 y/o and 2 y/o) enjoyed it as well. Our server was very friendly and brought the kids' meals out as soon as they were ready so they wouldn't have to wait too long.

I was at Jiko last Tuesday evening. Jeff was our server and was fantastic. He let us sample beers and wines before we decided which ones to order and was very knowledgeable about the menu.

We had the monkfish (tasted too fishy for me), the filet mignon which was good but not really on par with a great steakhouse, and the braised lamb shank (which I didn't try).

The duck firecrackers were good as was the olive and goat chees flatbread.

The Jiko sundae was not worth the calories - we shoulda hadda Mickey Bar!

We were there in February. The pomegranate glazed quail was wonderful! The lentil pastillas and tamales were delicious.

Overall, I don't think the desserts are worth it - either in calories or price. We usually head to DTD afterward and get something there.

Jeff is the best waiter. He really knows his stuff.

Jiko is DH's favorite restuarant. This past meal was our third trip there - it never dissapoints.
