Hi,

We're off on our first trip in July with our baby and my best friend from Canada and we're very excited. We had wanted to stay onsite but the prices were CRAZY! We managed to book a 2 bed 'cottage' at the Citea Residentiel for £89 a night for the 4 of us which seems very very affordable. It has good reviews on expedia, have any of you been and was it ok? Any photos? Was it a long drive to Disney?

Thanks in advance!

Hi There we stayed there in November 07 its TERRIBLE......nah only joking it was really good in our opinion,
It would not be more than a 5 min drive to disney though we always got the bus as we did not drive over there, there was plenty of parking at the Citea and the complex was locked with Automatic gates in the evening for which you get a pass for,It was clean fresh and modern we only stayed in a 1 bedroom for 4 of us and there was plenty of room
http://www.hotels-paris.fr/en/hotel/Citea-Resid-Magny-Hongre.htm# there are a few pictures to be seen in the link.
there was plenty of linen etc.kitchen utensils were a bit sparce no kettle but there was a perculator microwave 2 ring hob dishwasher and wahing machine so great with a baby in tow....i'm sure you will agree,we actually just took tablets for the machine and dishwasher with us so we did not need to buy boxes of them away. They really are very nice and quiet nice gardens patio areas shuttered windows and patio doors plenty of hot water which can be over riden should you use it all...loads of storage not a suitcase in sight and shops close by 5 mins walk for bakery and groceries though Auchan in val de europe is just as handy if you have the car,
Also as i know you are getting AP's there is free parking at disney for dream ones, all in all its far enough away to eat non junk food etc but close enough ... it is not really much further than the Kyriad hotel but i believe that it is not partiqularly well signposted for driving
i would say its posibly the best off-site accomodation we have stayed in hence we are staying there in a 3 bed aprtment this april ...will take more photos then if you like and post them for you,
Just be aware reception is not manned 24hrs and ther are periods of the day its closed ..just for check in purposes

mickemousepal, we've been looking at this residence too.

A couple of questions if you don't mind:

You say you took the bus to DLP - is this a free shuttle or is there a public bus stop nearby?

Is it walking distance to the train for a trip into Paris?

Thanks :) .

Hi there there is a public bus stop right outside the residence ....it took less time than staying at the likes of the kyriad and getting the shuttle buses....the public bus still takes you to the bus station at chessy (disney)where all the other shuttle buses go which incidently the train station is at to go into Paris...they are maybe less frequent in the evenings though but the timetable is easy to follow and ther is one at the citea stop and the disney stop so as long as you check out the times waiting is kept to a minimum the number of the bus was 34 1.50 euro each way for an adult ..half for a child,
I would honestly have no hesitation staying there again ....hence i will be in April,it really is like home from home and if there is a family its a lot more comfortable in staying in a family room,

This time and last time i booked it from www.booking.com where the house i prereserved generally cheaper than their own website and that of expedia often with special rates which is only preauthorised with no charge to your card ...which is great as you can book months in advance and if you ddecide not to opt for the house as long as you cancel within 24/48 before your stay there is no charge to you which lets you be a bit flexible ....for instance i booked 5 nights flights were cheaper to stay an extra day so i just modified my booking to include another day at the parks which believe it or not worked out cheaper than going home the day earlier!!!!!!
I am not on comission promise but in my opinion it is definately value for money compared to onsite and staying in a room ...if you don't mind missing the magic an official disney hotel can offer..........i will definately take lots of pics when i am there in April and post them ...hopefully before me and the kids make it look untidy

Sarah (TotallyAngelic) stayed there last summer. Check out her trippie, it's in the Trip Reports Index under July 2007 as she took some photos.

That's a super trip report and I'm almost convinced on the Citea Residentiel - it does sound a good option for the 5 of us.

I've read elsewhere that there isn't much in the way of restaurants/bars within walking distance...is this true? It would be nice to be able to go out in an evening without a car.

not so sure but disney village is open untill late we only used it as a base to eat and sleep never did too much exploring round about but it is only 5-7 mins on the bus to disney and you can carry on the bus as it goes to val de europe in the other direction although it does seem a long journey for the distance but it is a commuter bus and goes through lots of towns and villages you certainly are not with out means of getting about so don't let that worry you
