Anyone been to Cabos San Lucas? Need info...

My daughter has an opportunity to go to Cabos and was wondering if anyone had any information. She has the selection of any RCI resort to stay in. We are on the East Coast so we know it will be a long flight. As far as safety, we know it is a tourist area, but it is still across the border. Any concerns?

I have been a few times. I'm not too fond of it because of all the timeshare heckling that goes on there. It's generally very safe though, just cab drivers, and people waiting in the lobby, and sometimes even in restaurants, they will push their timeshares. It really is too much at times. He only concern about safety is that of her own sanity with these people.

I would stay on the Sea of Cortez side if I were to go again, while the Pacific is picturesque, you can't really swim in the water. The currents are insanely strong, and some parts of the beach have rocks throughout it, making it extremely dangerous to swim in.

Early spring brings in whale watching season, so keep your eyes open for that.

The thing that shocked me about Cabo was how expensive transportation was. The only people who take taxis are tourists and they rip you off bad! I stayed at the Sheraton and it was $20 (so $40 roundtrip) to get to downtown where all the fun bars and restaurants are located.

We never stayed there, but have been 3 times by cruise ship. Tourist areas are pretty safe. If she's staying in a resort she'll be fine. Just tell her not to accept any free drinks in jewelry stores! I did hear of someone being drugged this way down there and their passport was stolen.
