The reason I ask is that for a long time, my DW and I have really enjoyed that restaurant. On our trip this past April, we ate there again and it was not very good....service was slow due to the kitchen, and the food was just Meh.....it was really disappointing.

I was going to complain, but A) I did not want my server taking the heat as she was great and it was not her fault and B) I was planning on sending an email or some such, but you know how that goes once its outta mind!

We have decided to skip it for our upcoming Sept trip, but I was curious as to what others have experienced lately and if anyone thinks it will make a come back?

NOTE1: Artist Point has lately made several changes to revive the old quality of the food and service, and regained the reputation of the past. It has now replaced Monsieur Paul on our TS list, and we only eat at five TS eateries. If you eat there, get a window table. The view of courtyard and lake are romantic at sunset and after dark. June-2015, Michael Gonsalves was appointed head chef at Artist Point. With new menu ideas, it looks like AP is returning to its previous stellar reputation. We DID enjoy the new selections and food prep. It is quickly becoming (possibly) the best Disney-Owned TS on property, next to V&A.
.
NOTE2: For a heavenly treat, do the highly prized Copper River Salmon which is available only during mid May to early-June, with a side of Mushroom Bisque. For dessert, we used to LOVE the Cobbler, but since the size and recipe change, it is not on our radar.

We were there in December. It was good, but we've had better visits.

Went for Christmas and loved it.

We always do Narcoossee's, but decided to switch things up and try someplace new. The portobello soup was worth the trip alone.
We each got an alcoholic drink. I'm very particular about my martinis, but this one was made perfectly.

Our dinners were all cooked to perfection. My sister and I each got the bison, my mom went with the salmon and my dad had a steak (I think.) For dessert, my mom and I went with a special holiday offering, while my dad and sister got the cookies and milk. Overall, the food was fantastic.

Our server was extremely charismatic. He did tend to hover and talk, but it was friendly. We've often run into servers that tend to hand around a little too long and tell us all about their life (not always at Disney) but he was nice. He told us about his family and what he was doing for the holidays. We also talked to him about how long he's been at Disney, how he started there, etc. We always like hearing CM's stories. He walked the fine line between being overly friendly and doing his job. He was a great server and emulated the perfect Disney CM.

Maybe you had an off night? Maybe we had an "on" night?

Artist Point continues to be one of my favorite restaurants in WDW. When we are at Disney we dine at the signature restaurants for dinner and did so this past June. I ordered the Copper River Salmon and thought it was excellent. We have never had slow service or "meh" food. AP is still one of my top 5 restaurants at WDW.

When we dined there in 2014 I also thought the food was meh. Service however was excellent but just wasn't impressed with the food except for the cobbler which was wonderful! The scallops were utterly tasteless! Didn't even finish them. I'm trying to decide whether to give it another chance since we are staying at WL in December but I'm not sure it would be worth it to give up something else I haven't tried yet like CG, Tiffins or Skippers Canteen? May just do TL instead and grab the fondue, charcuterie and cobbler.

Was there a little over a month ago. Cheese plate and charcuterie were awesome. Main course was ok....think I had the buffalo. Staff mostly attentive. Lag on my water being refilled once. Restaurant was only half full on a Thursday night. Was kind of odd as I have never been in there when it wasn't pretty packed. Bread with salted butter rocks.

Thanks everyone.....as noted above the new chef as of June 2015, would have been the chef when we were there this past April....so that hasn't changed. I guess we will give it another try in April 2017 trip. AS I said....we love the restaurant and just want to keep loving it! :)

He would not have had time to change things for the date he took over until the time you visited.
. . . when we bought two eateries (one breakfast/lunch diner and one diner fine dining) we had to evaluate and experiment with menus and service
. . . I am sure he had to do the same thing

We were there in April as well and server was definitely slow. Like painfully slow. Slow like I was tipsy before the entrees even came out slow cause I had so much time on my hands.....

That said, we thought the food was wonderful. We had an oyster appetizer, scallop entrée, bolognese, an asparagus salad, and of course their amazing cobbler and it was all on point. Sounds like you may have just hit an off night food wise.

We have an ADR there in September so I will report back. Last time we were there we loved it so hoping for the same.
