Anyone been to AKL in January?

Thinking of a trip in early January, probably 2nd-9th, before son has to get back to college. We have been to AKL before and loved it! My question is, if we happen to hit a cold snap, will the animals still be out as much...if at all? I hate to pay for a savannah view if all we see is the savannah!

The animals are out just as much in the winter as the summer. If anything, I think they were a bit more active in January than other times of the year! We did hit a cold snap and DS was one of only three kids in the pool in the evening, but it was great weather to catch a Redwings game at the pool bar! Have a great trip! Pack for everything, just leave the winter coats and gloves at home!

We did AKL may years ago in late January and yes the animals were out at all times. Here we were FREEZING but they weren't.

I've heard that the animals are more active in the winter, so I'd think this would be a perfect month to see the animals.
