Anyone been through ROFR lately?

Hello! Has anyone been through or heard of anyone getting through ROFR lately? DH and I have been checking out going resale vs. DVC with the current incentive. Have people been getting through at $68-72 per point?

We just signed our first DVC contract and we are so excited. I am very nervous though about passing ROFR--OKW 68 points, with all of '07 points, most of '08 points and all of '09. It almost seems too good to be true!! Hoping Disney doesn't think so too!!

Silly question from a DVC newbie, but what does ROFR stand for?

ROFR = Right of First Refusal. Once an agreement for price has been reached between the 2 parties, it is submitted to DVC and DVC has the option to buy the contract at that price before letting the purchaser buy it.

And this is not exclusive to DVC.

There's good and bad about ROFR. It keeps the prices higher for buyers, but it is also supposed to keep the value of the points higher ie. so you won't lose your investment.

Out of curiosity - have you posted this to the ROFR thread ? Do you mind listing some more of the specifics ? Reason I'm asking is that I'm waiting on ROFR on a 160 point SSR (Mar UY) contract right now @ $68 pp with all points (including a full set of banked 08s) and am stressing out !!

Just in case you can't find my post, I bought 160 points at Saratoga Springs for $65 a point, the contract had all 160 points from 2008 and all 160 points coming in 2009 with a December use year. I had to pay maintenance fees. I'm not sure if I can list this but my purchase was through www.**********.com and my agent was Jaki. Everyone disagrees with me but I'm predicting the resale prices at Saratoga Springs will drop even more in the next few months. Why? One reason is the poor economy and the other is because Disney now has a surplus of points to sell at this resort due to the treehouses.

lugnut33-I agree, it doesn't make sense to buy direct from Disney anymore. I used to buy direct just for the novelty of not waiting or wondering. The one thing that recently led me to a resale was poor customer service from my DVC guide. I was staying at Saratoga Springs this past December and personally went by the DVC Sales Center and met with my guide. I told him I wanted to purchase 100-200 more points on my Saratoga Springs contract as soon as Disney made them available for the Treehouses. He said he would put my name on the list and send me an e-mail when that time arrived. Well, the time arrived and I was never sent an e-mail. I even called him twice and left voice messages and he still did not return my call. My best friend called and left a message for my guide to call him because he was interested in purchasing a new contract. My guide never returned his call. It seems to me like DVC would be much more sensitive to a client's needs, especially with our economy. I will always go the resale route from now on. I had excellent customer service from my resale agent.
