We just did this tour in January 2011. It was similar to what's been described before as the most recent tour - no characters other than Mickey at the end, which was too bad, but my kids really did get into the treasure hunt along the way.
We went with our 3 sons (7, 5, and 2.5). It turned out to be a private tour, which was great. We got to take lots of fun pictures, and the kids got to choose magic words for opening treasure chests, put the puzzle together at the end, and generally have a great time.
We were taken on 6 rides: Railroad (Main Street to New Orleans Square), Pirates of the Caribbean, Tarzan's Treehouse, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Carousel, and Mickey's house. I think that's pretty much one per land - I guess they're trying to give you an overview of the park?
One fun note - we'd been on Pirates earlier in the week and my 5-yo hated it, was scared and crying :-( So when the guide said we were going there I was a bit nervous. But she did a great job of telling how we were imaginary pirates, and getting him to say "Aargh!" and that we were scarier than they were. Also we were supposed to be watching for a certain pirate on the ride. So with all of that encouragement and distraction (and probably the fact that he knew what to expect), he loved it the second time. I was glad - it's always been one of my favorites.
