Anyone been on a gluten free diet in Disney??

Hello!
My mum is thinking of coming with us on our next trip but she has coeliacs disease so has to have a strict gluten free diet. Has anyone done this in disney and is it possible? Don't want to be stuck for places to eat!

Besides breakfast which they seem to do ok on I'd think that she would be eating a lot of either her own food brought from home or from Auchan hypermarket at Val d'Europe or the airline type meals that DLP do

Thank you! Doesn't look great does it would think there would be a better gluten free option offered especially as its more common nowadays. Will let her have a look and decide!

Different ways of doing things but in time I guess there will be more options if more people are diagnosed and make a noise about wanting to eat out like everyone else

Don't forget that being a végé here is hard (ham for example often appears in things as people don't see it as meat) and being vegan is ni impossible eating out.

I was going to post a similar thread. We went to DLP in May and since then my husband has been diagnosed as coeliac and we've booked to go back to DLP this coming May. We stayed in a gite offsite last year which worked really well generally for us as my parents came too (but didn't want to do Disney everyday). In light of the coeliac 'thing' I'm glad we're opting to self cater again as I think it will definitely be the more straight forward option and at least I'll be sure what goes in to a meal/ cross contamination issues are dealt with. I appreciate self catering is not everyone's idea of a holiday though but for me at least I'll feel in control.

My parents live in France and are again coming to stay with us in the gite in May, my mum is currently in the process of checking out what the French supermarkets stock in the way of GF goods and I think we may well end up taking fresh GF bread over with us. We'll have breakfast and dinner at the gite and we'll take a picnic/ lots of snacks in to the parks with us, certainly for me and my husband anyway.

I'm sure you are probably looking at staying onsite but just thought I'd mention the gite/ self catering side of things in case you'd not thought of it.

Very little Carrefour do 3 different pasta shapes and a pizza base plus 2 or 3 "cakes" and "bread"

Health food shops sell a bit more but the prices are unbelivable.

If you are driving I'd advise you to bring as much food as you can from the UK

Thanks CarrieCat, blimey, hadn't realised it was quite that restrictive! We are flying over but to be honest my parents will quite possibly be over in the UK with their car before then so in that case we'll send them back with a some stuff! Another option is to stick another suitcase in the hold of the plane in May, not that we'll need loads of stuff for a week but some store cupboard basics would be good x
