We were there last year and found it incredibly uncomfortable. The noise level of the bikes was awful, the traffic was terrible, and it was miserable trying to get in any place to eat, etc.
At that point, BIL lived in Myrtle Beach on the intra-coastal in an apartment building. We avoided the traffic on Ocean Blvd.
at all costs. It would be gridlocked for hours. We went WAY up the beach to where the private homes were and staked out land there. We made friends with one of the owners on the waterfront. They were gems and welcomed us and the puppy into their home like we were family.
Additionally, I saw
way too much bum hanging off the back of the bikes. It's something I wouldn't want children to see.
You may want to rearrange your plans, if you can, to be off Ocean Blvd. and away from the Gand Strand main areas as much as possible.
Edit: Yes, Ocean Blvd. does turn into a one-way with little or no turn offs. We ended up on it (accidentally) and ended up pulling off on a service clip road for one of the hotels. We were in DHs tiny sports car and when we started asking if we could cut in, there was no problem with it to get over. It's incredibly slow, incredibly careful driving you must do if you find yourself in it. Best to just stay away!
Head over to Bare Foot Landings, for sure! Check out the white tigers- you can even have your picture taken holding one of the cubs! We spent an awful lot of time at Broadway at the Beach. Ripley's aquarium is a lot of fun. There was an excellent Titanic exhibit, but I think they may have closed it? Also, if you have some extra money, renting one of the small boats and riding the intracoastal is a blast! We took a day rental on the boat with a tube, water skis, and wake board... that is some of the best family time and some of th ebest family memories we have. We had intended for it to be a 2.5 hour rental and called back to the main area and asked if we could extend it indefinitely we were enjoying ourselves so much.
If you can change your hotel... I know you said it's pretty much locked in... the Hilton or Hampton Inn (can't remember which it is) at Broadway at the Beach is fabulous!
We, too, ended up on vacation there as a family to visit BIL over Black Bike Week. It was Memorial Day weekend and we all decided to meet there. We had no idea what to expect. BIL said the Bike Week the week before (which I was given the impression was mostly white and Harleys) wasn't any better. He was working at Planet Hollywood as a server and said he had 7 checks ditched over those two weekends. For one of them, we were there and the people left their keys on the table!

BIL held the keys in one hand and the check in the other and simply said, "No check, no keys." It still cracks me up!
