Anyone been in Myrtle Beach during "Black Bike Week?"

Isn't it sad that it's 2006 and there's still a need for a black bike week and a white bike week.

Their isn't a white bike week. There is a Harley Rally and a Black Bike Week? :confused3

From what I understand, there is "Harley Week" which is "open to" and attended by any and all bikers - black, white, pink, (and even those who are lime green, although we all know "we" prefer to vacation a little further down south :earsboy: ). And while this week does attract a large crowd, for the most part, the "crowd" it attracts is one welcomed by the folks who make their living from the tourist $. Historically, they have shown a greater deal of decorum, self-control, and respect than the attendees of the week known as "black bike week", a self-proclaimed title, I might add.

My son lives in Myrtle Beach and we are there at least 7 or 8 times during the sumer alone. We were there for both Harley Week and "Black Bike Week"last year. My son warned us about Black Bike week but we didn't listen as we had incurred no problems during Harley week.
Sure, there were a lot of bikes but saw no rude behavior and bikers in restaurants were no problem. The bikers stayed on the main streets and we saw very few on the residential streets and those few were driving slowly.

Black Bike Week different story.
We were cutting through the old air base over to 17 Bypass and crotch rockets were drag racing each other at high speeds with no thought to others on the road.
Crotch Rockets blasting through residential streets ignoring "No THRU TRAFFIC" signs posted. Not just speeding, accelerating wide open with no regard to children playing or residents walking.
501 traffic backed up all weekend to544. Ocean Blvd and Bus. 17 impassable with traffic backed up S. of Myrtle Beach state park and Ocean Blvd. N. way N. of Atlantic Beach.
Impossible to reach the beach unless one went to Garden City as the beaches were packed near Myrtle Beach and traffic made it impossible to reach the beach.
Traffic was one way from N. of the pavillion, as I recall, all the way to the Springside Beach area where Ocean Blvd. meets 17 Bus.
We went to an all you can eat seafood rest. in Surfside where we were seated next to a group of 8 or 10 that were so loud and obnoxious we considered leaving. The waitress was kept running with all kinds of demands. After eating for over an hour, they demanded to see the manager. As we were within a few feet of them, we heard them complaining of bad food , bad service, etc at which time they all got up and went up front where they created a scene and then just walked out without paying screaming about the MF food no good.
I asked the waitress if she would bring the manager to us and advised him the waitress gave exceptional service and if the food was so bad, why the heck did they gorge on it for over an hour?
The waitress came over to thank us for advising the manager she was not the problem and informed us that what we witnessed was the 4th time that day and the money for those dine and dash slobs came out of her pay.
She stated that was the reason many restaurants closed because no servers want to work as there are few tips and they lose money for skip outs.
I asked if that occured during Harley week and she advised no and they tip great.
I witnessed vehicles driving over lawns, curbs, etc to avoid traffic lights, loud blasting rap, loud foul mouth language in stores, food containers tossed out of vehicles, wine bottles tossed out into the street, etc.
The difference between the two bike weeks was as different as night and day.
I will listen to my son this year and leave before Black Bike Week.
