Anyone been 'carded'??

Has anyone ever been asked for proof of age for entry to Palos or any of the other adults only areas?

I'm 'cursed' with looking like a kid (I'm 20, look about 12) and am more than used to being asked to prove my age...

I wondered if I should anticipate this happening on the ship?

I know I can't buy alcohol, I'm wondering more about the adults only places.....

I don't know for a fact....however, your age is entered when you make a reservation......and linked to your account, so I don't think you can even make a reservation if you aren't old enough.
I looked at the computer when we got on board in one port, and one of the things that pops up after they swipe your KTTW card is your age.

I think your age is on your KTTW card, so no need for carding...When your reservations are made, they know the ages of those in your party...

Carded, that would be "FUN"...

Yes, people are "carded" on the ship, and I have seen it happen. Your KTTW card is encoded with your age, so any CM can find out. THey can and will ask for your KTTW before serving alcohol.

As to anything else, are you sure they won't allow you into other adult venues? I could be wrong, but I thought the age for admission to adult areas was 18, the drinking age is 21.

I know it may seem like a hassle, but believe me in 10-15 years, you will love it!!! I go through this all the time about how old I look and I'm 40ish. Well, I don't get carded any more. That stopped around the age of 35, and boy was I bummed!!! But I have had people not believe I was married to my dh or they can't believe that I have taught for 17 years.

You'll have your KTTW card with you, so it shouldn't be a problem. I have seen them ask at the adult pool.

Your age is attached to your reservation, so they already know how old you are. .

If you look 12 the may think you swaped yout KTTW card with your mom so I would take my drivers liscense just in case. AWESOME problem to have

Yes they will card you in the adult areas after dark... My DD (under 18 - but was with others who were 18)) was with us one night to watch a show in the adult area. She had her mothers KTTW card, however, they did not accept that and asked her for her Driver Licence. She was bummed - The servers have good memories, and if you prove you age once they may not ask you agian. Have fun, we sure did, closing down the dance club each night of the cruise. Jim

I too have the exact same problem I was just on my honeymoon we went out to eat one day and they gave us a kids menu (happens all the time) My mother in law was with us and she took the menu back and was about to give them a thing or two lol and in fact has at perkins one night when the waitress said something.... but back to your question i was on the cruise with my grandma at the adult area (i was 19) and she asked me to get her a coke cause she was hot and thirsty and didnt want to get up... (she did pay for the trip so i did things to help her have a fun time and make sure she wasnt hot) any way i went to the bar in the adult pool and asked for the soda the guy was sweet and said i cant but if you go around the corner they can on the other side i said why he said because i was a kid I said sir im 19 and he gave me the coke no id asked for so you might get luckey. on the other hand(flame suiet on) I used the age thing to my advantage and snuck onto the water slide. they asked if i was 14 i said yeah boom i was down the slide. if im not mistaken thou i make it anyway because its under 5 feet or 14 years old and i am 4 foot six

If you look at the bottom left on your key card a 2 digit year your were born is on there. It's only on our cards from our last cruise so it might be a new feature.

Entry into the adult areas onboard like the Pool, Palo and the clubs is age 18. Drinking age onboard is 21 but to get to the adult areas and shows it is 18 so you should have no problem.

Legal drinking age in Nassau is 18 so if you would like to have drink it is perfectly legal in Nassau.

This brings up a good point...if the bahamas legal drinking age is 18...and Castaway Cay is in the bahamas......I wonder if someone wanted to push the point if they could be served booze at 18....or does Disney's ownership of the island take precedence? I know that DCL has to abide by other bahamiam laws, why not the drinking age on the island?

I believe that Disney "Chooses" not to serve alcohol to anyone under 21.

Remember, you cannot force someone to sell you anything of theirs (supreme court ruling on property rights excepted ). DCL owns the drinks until they sell them to you and they can refuse (and they have made it their policy).

I know that DCL has to abide by other bahamiam laws, why not the drinking age on the island?

The drinking age law is a minimum age that you are "Able" to sell alcohol to people at - you are not required to sell if you choose not to.

we have sailed dcl 10 times and the past 4 cruises my son was 18 to 20 years old and has been carded in the night clubs, palo, and the cove cafe and even was asked to leave the adult pool once. i thought it was a bit funny that this happened to him on each of the cruises but he did not. dcl is only doing their job in checking to see who's supposed to be in the adult only areas which i for one appreciate. my son's biggest complaint was that in the nite club on this past trip in july it was the same waiter each nite that asked for his i.d., a drivers licence, which by the way he had to carry with him everywhere in order to stay put in the adult only areas, the ships key to the world card was not enough.

If a bartender or refuses to serve a drunk, that's just cause, and not discriminitory. If my liquor store down the block decides not to sell to anyone under21, that's discrimination, and he/she would lose his/her liquor license.
Disney must have a legal right, somehow, to use American jurisdiction to govern the CC/Bahamian laws. They can't just "decide" not to sell to under 21s on foreign soil, without being able to cite an actual law or loophole.

If you want to apply Bahamian law to the drinking age, you can't go applying U.S. law to discrimination. I have no idea what Bahamian law is on discrimination or the right to not sell someone something, but I'd guess Disney isn't in violation of it.

Yes, I was carded in Rockin' Bar D last year when I was 18. I didn't have my license with me, just my KTTW, and that was good enough for the CM, because it says adult right on the card. I wasn't trying to buy alcohol, just sitting quietly with my friend and they were like, "Are you 18?" I showed my card and it was fine, but this was like the third or fourth night of the cruise and I had been in there previous nights with not a question asked. *shrug* I don't care, if they want to ask, let them ask. I got carded at the movies not too long ago too. I have a very young face! I'll be thankful for it later, I know!

My niece and her boyfriend, who were 17 at the time, joined us for one of the shows in Rockin Bar D. They were with our whole family who are all over the age of 18. Sure enough, a CM came over, asked their ages and asked them to leave. My sister was a little upset because there really isn't much for 17 year olds to do onboard at that time of the night. They were not drinking or being noisy, just enjoying the show. They understood and left but were a little embarrassed. I felt really bad for them. Silly rule but I guess they have to draw the line at some age. It's just weird that someone who is old enough to go to college can't sit and watch a comedy act or dance at 70's night.

That's a good point, I suppose I should carry mine too. I have to admit I can get fed up getting children's menus, ignored in shops, asked for ID so hopefully the cms will remember me after the first time. People usually do, my DB is 6'4" and I'm 4'11" so we're generally quite recognisable! In MK last year Jasmine asked me 'hey pretty princess, how old are you'...erm 20!!!! I know it wasn't intended to upset me but sometimes its a little awkward.
