I've seen the rumors on here that people have "heard" of people who were asked for additional funds at check-in after paying for a package in full.

Disney reservation fine print clearly allow for this...
"In addition, Disney reserves the right to cancel or modify a reservation (including after a reservation has been confirmed) if the reservation includes or resulted from a mistake or error of any kind, including but not limited to a mistake in price or description of the package or package components, or where it appears that a Guest has engaged in fraudulent or misleading activity in making the reservation. If a package is cancelled by Disney, Disney shall have no responsibility beyond the refund of monies paid to Disney for the package."

This concerned me last year because I called and was told I had a pin in my name but never actually received a pin code. According to the above statement, Disney could have deemed that the CM who booked the package made a "mistake" and either cancelled my package or charged me the additional money. However, I went on my vacation and paid the price quoted.

This has happened again to me this year. I was quoted a vacation at 40% off even though I didn't actually have a pin in hand.

SOOOO long story short. Has anyone had a situation where Disney actually went though with this threat? I personally think it's crazy since if their CMs make a booking mistake...they should take the loss. But I don't want to take advantage of this offer, get to Disney and be told that I owe another $1200! :confused3

This did happen to us when I checked in on our Dec. trip. We had a rate of x per night at Pop for the length of our stay. Our vacation was not paid for and had cash on hand to do so. They would not accept my payment nor correct my reservation rate till our luggage arrived from ME and I could show them the documentation from Disney that I did indeed have that rate for the length of stay. I did not end up paying more and they were fine once I had my documentation. I will in fact pay for my vacation in full before arrival next time. Also, I am under the impression that as long as your vacation is paid for then they can not change your rate in there favor. Everyone went through some of this when day to day pricing started last Dec. ahead of schedule. Now, with that change Disney did change rates in there favor when people (I included) tried to add discounts to there vacations.
If you have a discount hang onto documentation and have it with you upon arrival. I don't think you will have a problem. I hope others will help with there experience with pins. I have never gotten one:confused3

I can't say that they were trying to get more money from us, but I don't know. We had our trip booked for months, paid in advance. Standard room at Coronado. When we got there, they had no rooms left. After an argument, we got a jr suite. Fine, but now it is midnight. I told them I did not want to switch rooms in the morning and would not pay more. We were told it was fine, that we would have the same room. At 7am they started calling and told us we had to get out at 10am and get to a standard room. They told us that having the same room for the length of your stay is a courtesy and not required of them. They basically told me I had nerve to expect and upgraded room for the same price. I don't know if they wanted us to pay the difference for the balance of our stay and what would have happened if I had refused, but they did make us move rooms. We had to repack, move rooms and lost half the next day. They also kept messing up the length of our stay, so our keys would expire at midnight some nights. We've been there so many times, it didn't sour us on Disney, just on Coronado. I just never thought that we could be asked to change rooms during a stay. After we moved they told us it might not happen again. We stayed for two weeks and did DDP (not free) tours and lots of extras. We probably spent 6k and to be treated like we were entitled jerks because we didn't want to play musical rooms. They did give us a big gift basket and a discount for the nights our room key didn't work and the night we moved.

Yes, in 1997 I was paid in full for a Jolly Holidays package and was asked for more $$ at check-in. I had an incredible rate for a lagoon view at the Poly with package components, I think MVMCP and/or CP. I was long before I discovered the internet and boards like this one, I had just called and asked if there were any specials. When I showed my paperwork that stated the rate and paid in full I didn't have to pay any more. The CM did make a comment that they were paying me to stay at the Poly.

Wow..that is really incredible.

I booked my package in July 06 for April 07. Tax room rate when up and they adjusted my payment on my package. I had to have it paid in full 45 days before we checked in.

Something like a tax hike could happen. Probably won't for awhile in Orange Co since that increase was just around 1.5 years ago.
However as someone else mentioned, say you booked a room using a specific discount that you were not entitled, but asked for proof at check in, you could be charged rack rate instead. I don't know how often that happens. But it certainly could.
I was asked to pay more at our one night stay at Vero Beach. It was not a lot, but should not have been since I had pre-paid what was asked at time of booking, and it was only for one night.
I even asked the CM at check in what the extra amount was. She did not know, nor offer to find out. :confused3
I just paid it. But I know many who would have argued.
My guess is we were upgraded to an ocean view room from standard, and were charged for the upgrade, even though we did not request it. That is just merely my guess though.
Later I received a survey and even mentioned this and never heard anything.

Seems like it's best to pay in full! We paid in full for our January trip and had no problems. I'll make sure to have all of my documentation handy when we arrive in August!

We've always paid in full too, but that does not guarantee you a room at the resort you booked. There are other threads on getting walked. And as we were told, it does not guarantee you the right to stay in the same room the length of your reservation. That is only a courtesy request. Disney has the right to give you comparable accommadations at any resort. We actually felt more vulnerable because we had paid in full, I had little negotiating room when we were told to change rooms, they had my money and were offering accommodations so they had fulfilled their part. The credit card company wouldn't have backed me if I had disputed. At that point, what do you do? You take what you can get or you go somewhere else and pay again.

We always book a package so we pay in full 45 days prior to arrival. Sooo if you once you pay in full, they can't raise the rate if they "discover an employee's mistake?" The fine print says nothing about when they are allowed to change the price/cancel your ressie.

I don't having paid in full has anything to do with it. Mine too was paid in full.

Part of the wording from one of my recent past reservations:
"Disney reserves the right to cancel or modify a room reservation (including after the room reservation has been confirmed) if the room reservation includes or resulted from a mistake or error of any kind, including but not limited to, a mistake or error in the rate, Resort or room type, or where it appears that a Guest has engaged in fraudulent or misleading activity in making the room reservation."
