Anyone been 1st week in June?

First week June 2012. Caught last weekend of Star Wars at HS. That place was mobbed and ridiculous. Overall the parks were manageable. It's really the last week before the bottom really falls out with schools all closing by that time. Temps are up, I think the highest we saw was around 90-91 degrees, which was still better than when we went in August. It's not as busy as July, but it is not like you are going to walk right onto everything.

I would go again the same time if I had to, but I'm aiming for a fall trip next time.

Hot and crowded. But we did rope drop and got lots done. The afternoon was crazy packed. I hate to think of what July is like. but the first week would most defiantly be the best, each day it gets busier and busier.

Hot and crowded is the story, but there are some dynamics this year that could reduce the crowds. Many of the U.S. schools have had numerous snow days and the school year may be extended into early June, taking some visitors out of the mix. Brazil has had a pretty bad year with their currency dropping more than 25% against the dollar, making a trip to Orlando not as attractive as it was earlier. Brazil is also hosting the World Cup in mid-June and some people may spend their vacation $$$ there instead of WDW.

Or it may be as crowded as usual... ;)

I've been there 1st week of June and it is a great time to go. We were able to ride the rides we wanted to . It's not as hot as July nor as rainy. Have fun!

Hot, crowded, rainy. Last year was pretty bad. The rain came down in buckets and lasted hours on some days. Alot of flights were cancelled/delayed. When it rained, the lines were short. But it wasn't really that enjoyable. It was nice there were no lines during the big storms, but it didn't make it fun walking around. Another good thing about the rain was that it cooled it down. The weather was really HOT and HUMID. Very uncomfortable. But once the storms moved it, it cooled it down so it was comfortable. The crowds were just crazy busy. We never made it on Soarin. We went on a Monday, which was the recommended day that week, and FP were gone by 10:30am. Of course, this was before FP+. But that shows how busy it was. The line never seemed to slow down.

Alot of people were saying the rain, heat, and crowds were the worst they've seen for the beginning of June. Maybe it won't happen this year. If you have to go in the summer, I would think the first week of June or near the end of August would be your best bet. But personally, I would avoid it.

We went the third week of June last year and while it was crowed, we maximized RD, took a break mid-day, and went back after supper. Worked great and we rode everything multiple times. This year we are going the first week of June. I figured if we can survive the third week, we can survive the first. We are going to add in the water parks and will be avoiding DHS on the weekend!! My friend in Louisville will still be in school that week due to snow days. Right now they are in school until June 6 and that is if they do not have any more snow days. Our school system has built in snow days so we should be fine.

Our normal time to visit is from June 1st to the 15th...give or take a day depending on school.

It will be hot and crowds build as the days go by. With a half-way decent plan though we have always had a great time.

We normally hit it early, we are pretty good morning people. Some parks we go for most of day and then spend some time relaxing at the pool. Some days we split it between morning and evening times. With then new FP system I am trying to decide how to attack it if we get to go this June. Think I will try to schedule FP's for the afternoon as much as possible.

If your family can get up fairly early you can get a lot done.

The heat is heat....not much to say about that short of water, breaks, water, sunscreen, water, good clothes....did I mention water?

Hot, rainy, muggy, and busy. Out of the 3 times we've gone during that time of year, twice we were caught in daily torrential down pours. Not really the ones that ended shortly, but a few hours. The rain showers that ended within an hour, it'd rain again that evening. The good thing is, at least the rain is warm so you're not shivering after getting wet, and sometimes, it even felt good to have it rain because it can get pretty hot.

It's Star Wars Weekend time so that always makes it busier. Pack rain gear, water, and patience. :)

Its the only time that we have been able to go. (6 trips since 2007) Its hot, but we are used to that (being from AL), it seems crowded, but what do I know, never been at a slow time.

We also arrive at rope drop, go to recommended parks, ride headliners first, use FP (have not been w/FP+) Eat meals at off times. Take afternoon break for swimming. Take rain gear for afternoon thunderstorms, use sunscreen and drink lots of water.

We have always did everything we wanted and always have a great time.

Have fun!

Hot and crowded. We went from May 27 to June 9th last year and it felt as crowded as it does the 3 times we been at Christmas. Also we had 3 days completely rained out. Never seen anything like it. I thought the crowds would be less and next to no rain boy was I wrong:cool1:

HOT and crowded. Really hot and really crowded. We were at every rope drop and were able to do all we wanted to do, but it was uncomfortable for sure. We were able to tolerate the heat more at MK as we were in and out of attractions with AC. The hottest was WC at EPCOT and in all that concrete at HS. Another thing that totally bummed me out: the water parks are my absolute faves. In November, when we normally like to go, there aren't many guests there at all and our days there are PURE MAGIC. In June, it was too crowded to enjoy it as much -- the wave pools were packed and hard to find loungers that weren't right next to other people.

We had a fun time on that trip, but I'm pretty certain we would never go during the summer months again.

In late May and early June you have Gay Days and Star Wars Weekends that can add a large number of people to the parks. I have also seen Florida schools in the parks late May as well. I dream of going in March or April when it's slow.

Let me speak in defense of June. Yes, it's more crowded than average but I wouldn't put it remotely close to Christmas crowds. Not even close. Waits for popular attractions can get up there but not beyond reason during the first week of June. Unless you're interested, don't visit DHS during SWW and you'll find the crowds to be much more manageable.

The fact of the matter is it's hot, but we're from FL so we're used to it. If you plan accordingly, bring rain ponchos and umbrellas, and give yourself a lot of free time and water, you can do it. Additionally, those sunny days are great for the Disney Water Parks!

This is coming from someone who goes in June frequently and loves it!

SWW only really affects DHS for a couple days each week (Fri, Sat, Sun) and GD actually don't have as large of an effect as many are led to believe. In fact, this year, most of March and April will be busier than late May/early June...

We were there the first week in June of 2010 and had hardly any waits. Granted we only did one day at MK then went to UO for the rest of our trip, but at MK even though it was hot, it wasn't unbearable, and even though there were some lines, those weren't unbearable either. I know a family who went the week after we were there and the lines were twice as long.

I would go the first week of June again in a heartbeat- but no later.

I'm taking my family, wife-child-grandparents, for the first week in June too. I really appreciate all the responses. We're staying at VWL.

I do have one question-my wife has MS and is wheelchair bound. She wants to take her electric wheelchair which is a really neat machine, it collapses and only weighs 50 lbs. My concern is with the possibilities of afternoon thunderstorms should we risk getting caught in the rain with the electric and risk damaging it?

Thanks.

How are the crowds?? thanks

We were there the first week of June last year. I felt the crowds were manageable. Our biggest problem was the rain. It rained A LOT on this trip!!!!! We just put our ponchos on and kept on going. We still had a great time - just would have liked to have a little less liquid sunshine :)

The rain sucked that week. We were there the same week. We lost 3 days because of the rain 2 partial days and I don't know if you remember the Thursday of the first week it rained from first thing in the morning till late at nite. We were suppose to do blizzard beach that day but spend it at Disney Quest because of the rain.

We were there the first week of June 2013 too. You are right about the rain. Wed evening and all of Thursday were a complete washout. We were supposed to snack around the world at Epcot for dinner Wed, but went to Cape May Cafe instead because it was raining so hard. Thursday the men were supposed to golf, then we were all going to Typhoon Lagoon. We ended up at Disney Quest just like you did!

We were able to catch the very last day of SWW on Sunday at DHS. I didn't think the crowds were too bad. We didn't line up to see every single Star Wars show though. We did MK on Tuesday. There was some off and on rain that evening so the crowds really thinned out at night and there were no lines for anything. Wed was Epcot in the Morning and AK in the afternoon. Epcot was more crowded than I thought it would be. Spaceship earth had a 35 minute wait at noon!

We made rope drop at DHS, MK & EP, took mid day breaks most days (so my teens could nap!), and then went back in the evenings. We were in the parks for 9 to 10 hours a day.

The touring plans crowd calendar showed crowds for the first week of June 2013 to be very similar to the crowds we experienced the first week of December 2011. Comparing the two weeks, June seemed more crowded to me, especially at Epcot.
