Anyone back from Star Wars Weekends yet?

BUMPING YOU UP - CAUSE I WANT TO KNOW TOO --- WE'RE LEAVING ON THURSDAY (5/22) FOR OUR STAR WARS WEEKEND EVENT AND I WANT SOME INFO BEFORE WE LEAVE.

1) WHAT TIME ARE MOST OF THE EVENTS HAPPENING?
2) WHAT TIME SHOULD WE ARRIVE AT THE PARK?
3) WHATS AN AVERAGE PRICE FOR THE STAR WARS T-SHIRTS?
4) DO THEY SHOW SCENES FROM THE NEXT MOVIE COMING OUT IN 2004/2005?
5) DID ANYONE STAY FOR THE EVENING - CANTINA STREET PARTY AND HOW IS IT?

SOMEBODY PLEASE ANSWER US!!!

I saw Anthony Daniels' "Inside the Saga" show on Saturday, which was very entertaining and interesting. That's the only "real" event I went to, but I did notice lots of characters in the park in really great costumes.

There is no info about the next movie yet because filming hasn't started yet. Daniels said that they would be going to Australia "soon", so probably later this summer.

Taking my two little jedi's (5 & 8 boys) and hubby this Sunday. This will be our first SW weekend. Looking forward to all the characters dressed up. Who did you see? My kids won't be too excited about the actual actors (unless they are in costume). Did anyone get to do the Jedi training?

We're getting there Sunday the 25th too. How crowded has the park been, anyone know? We're so excited about the Star Wars activites, but that's going to be our only day at Studios, so I'm hoping we can do some of the other things on my "list".

we were there last friday,we stayed an extra day to be there for the event and get autographs but that did not happen.you have to be there way before the park opens.CMs told us that there were people sleeping in the parking lot.then when the park opens they have areas set up to where you have to wait in line to get wrist bands to be able to get autographs.we were there right before 10:00am and all the wristbands were gone and they told us we could not even use the stand by lines to get the autographs. We were totally disappointed with the whole situation.we will not be returning for this again.

We returned yesterday from 2 weeks at WDW. We were at the Who Wants to Be A Millionaire Play It show at 11:30 on Saturday. It was a Star Wars edition show with Storm Troopers and Jawas (sp?). A teenage boy won the Million Point Prize package with 2 life-lines still in tact. That was pretty cool. He would say the answers before they could even start the clock. It was amazing to see!!

wdwfantasy, we were at that Millionaire also! There were many characters roaming around the area near Star Tours and posing for pictures. I'm not a big Star Wars buff so I really couldn't tell you who many of them were!

We have decided at the last minute after our Carnival Pride cruise that we will go to MGM Sat 5/31 to the Star Wars weekend. We missed this 2 years ago.

I know there are "tips" for getting choosen for other things are there any out there for the Star Wars activities, like the Kids Academy? This would thrill my 9 and 10 yo. Would it help to dress up in a Star Wars Costume? (Still have those around from last Halloween!!)

Please let me know quick!! We leave Friday for Port Canaveral.

Thanks so much!!

I think all of us going have read wdwig.com's schpiel on SWWs. I personally was looking for what characters were out, if anyone went to WWTBAM Star Wars edition (were the ?s hard), did anyone's child get picked for Obi Wanna Be, etc.

I am not touching the celeb autographs with a 10' pole. Too much of a hassle. The characters are enough for me.

Come on guys, there has to be someone out there who went this past weekend. I have one excited 7 year old who is dying to know if all the characters were out and other special things to do. We are arriving on Thursday for a short trip just to see Star Wars characters.

We'll see all the SW fans there!:p

I just got back today from WDW and Star Wars weekend. It was great, and I am not that big of a SW fan. We were a little uncertain about how to obtain the autographs from Billy Dee Williams and Anthony Daniels. Here is what went on this past weekend. We didn't get there before the park opened but did go right to where they were to sign the autographs, it was near the Drew Carey show. In any case, I waited in line for Anthony Daniels and my husband waited for Billy Dee Williams. These two only were going to sign for two 1 hour sessions. THey handed out wrist bands with different codes and numbers on them. The CM might tell you they aren't sure what they are going to do but then another will tell you that they will be handing out wrist bands. It sounded like they wanted to keep it very mysterious. In any case, they handed out the wrist bands around 10 a.m. and there 60 for the noon signing and 60 for the 3 p.m. signing. You come back 15 minutes before the signing and they put you back in number order. Anthony Daniels was quite nice and really made the effort to talk with you. He even repeated many of the famous lines from Episode II to my husband and myself. My suggestion if you have little ones that want to meet the stars is to have them wait in line with you. When you come back they will not let anyone in line that doesn't have a wrist band on.

We didn't stay for the Cantina party, although we wanted too. We didn't see it advertised at all, even in the guide map. Most of the events were in the afternoon. And there was generally no wait for the Star Tours ride. The store was a mad house all day but they did have some neat stuff. They have limited edition (500) watches for $75 and a limited edition coin (250) don't know how much they run. The shirts were about $20. Not completely sure because we didn't purchase one. THere are many of the characters out and running around. Lots of the main characters had lines to get your picture taken with them.

It was very well organized. We went to the second Millionaire showing of the Star Wars edition, there were only two during the day on Friday. My husband also participated in the Tatooine Trivia contest which you have to register for early in the morning. They only take 50, and it is first come first serve.

My husband went to the show that Anthony Daniels did. He said it was very good but he did curse some. Just to let you know for little ones. I don't know if he will be back for the rest of the weekends, but he was definitely worth meeting.

I think that about covers it. It was a great time, Disney did a great job.

Amber,
Thank you so much for your reply. It's nice to hear that there were lots of characters for our little guys to meet. Thanks for the heads up about the lines for autographs -- I guess my son will have to wait in line like every one else. Thanks again!
:jester:

Quickgold,
Thanks for the great pictures. My son is officially past the point of excited. We leave in 2 days and he can't wait to go see all the characters. Thanks for posting your pics for everyone to enjoy.:D

For the person who asked which characters were out....based on last year's non-Star Wars Weekend that coincided with the week that Episode II came out, here's what we saw:

The Emperor & his guards
Darth Vader
Stormtroopers
Chewbacca & an Ewok (found by the Speeder bike)
Luke Skywalker
Princess Leia
Biths (Biths are the guys who played in the Cantina band)

It's a good possibility that you'll at least see these characters. I also saw a Queen Amidala in one of the pics posted from this year.

There are always characters around, some with actual times and lines, others are roaming, allowing people to stop and take a picture. These tend to get rather chaotic with people pushing their children around to get pics. In addition to the list, there were also the following characters:
Han Solo (yeah, I got a pic with Han, Luke, and Leia at the same time)
Mace Windu
Shak Ti & another jedi
Jawas
Darth Maul
Queen Amidala (in ep 1 clothing)
Jango Fett
Boba Fett
Zam (can't spell her last name right now)
R2D2 & C3PO figures that you can pose in front of (kind like statues)
Admiral Ackbar
Greedo

We went to all of the events, including the adults trivia that I participated (and lost) in

I thought it was pretty fun to see the different characters. The parade I think could have been longer. The best was seeing Darth Maul. He was soooooo freaky and. I walked by him after standing on line to take a pic of my friend and he gave him the meanest look. The Duke was another character who looked very real. It was just fun walking around and seeing the stormtroopers and ewoks. Take plenty of film because there are so many photo ops.

I went to all of the first Star Wars weekend and loved the pins they were selling. Bought the pins the second year but only went to two of the weekends. There was no SW weekends last year. Ok maybe there was one but not like years past.

It is good to hear that they are going all out again this year 4 weekends and all the costumed characters along with the actor again this year.

I think the est thing I have read in this thread (all was good) was that WWTBAM was Star Wars themed oriented.
