What were you placed as? The closest audition to where I am is November 2nd... I'm scared that I won't get picked for something and then I'll be placed as whatever is left aka a role I don't want. My phone interview is this Wednesday, I'll tell Margie my top 3 roles, if I don't include character performer and tell her what audition I'll be attending, can I still attend?

You do need to tell your interviewer where you are going - because then you'll get an "invitation" to the audition. If you attend the audition without interviewing first, then you go through the whole process (presentation, interview) afterwards.

In the past, people who auditioned later and were not selected as Character Performer have been denied from the program because other slots were full. HOWEVER, it was mentioned that the process is different this time around and that you'll be placed into a role from your interview. If you pass the audition then you'll be moved to performer and your previous role can be back filled.

I'm very jealous that's how they are doing it now - so you should be good to go!

Has it been confirmed they're doing it this way or is it still kind of in rumor phase, so to speak?

I'm auditioning november 8th so I had the same questions- just tell your interviewer what you want and you can even ask her about the rule.
my interviewer told me about this rule so it is definitely confirmed that Disney is now doing this :cool1: I think it's awesome that they do this now

I have asked my interviewer repeated times and she has confirmed this to me, but it appears not all the recruiters are on the same page... so basically what I figure is if you get Danielle in your interview you're good to go haha :upsidedow

I had Margie for my interview too and she is very sweet! You'll like her. I mentioned that I heard of this new rule when she asked if I had any questions and she confirmed it and then elaborated on it.

Basically you may get an acceptance letter before your audition offering you a position in say, attractions, or whatever else from your role checklist. You can then accept that role. You still audition and if you pass the audition you can 'switch out' the role you accepted for character performer. If you don't pass the audition, you will have a reserved spot saved for you in the role you accepted.

All the auditions are also the same week country wide this semester.

Good luck!!

just out of curiousity, then with this new rule if you fail the phone interview, you'll get a denial letter and then auditioning is pointless or can you still audition and try to get accepted again?
does that make sense?

Wow! I didn't know they changed it. I wanted to audition for Fall '10 but then I changed my mind since I am graduating and this would be my only shot. I didn't want to not pass and then have my other roles filled. But if I can have one of my other roles reserved for me that would be awesome!

In the past, which I assume is the same for today, you were to do the interview beforehand and then you'd be "invited" to audition (implying you passed the interview). If you didn't interview first, then you'd have something like two days after the audition to interview. So either way you'd be required to pass the interview to be hired, before ever finding out if you passed the audition.

If you do not pass the initial interview, but show up to the audition anyway, when you go to schedule a second interview they'll obviously see you in the system already, so you'd still be denied.

ah okay! thanks, that makes sense

Thanks for the help guys. Another question.

Lets say I pass the auditions and get a part, am I automatically pulled from my old role and forced to be a character performer? I ask this because I'm only interested in being a face character, is there a way to audition solely for that and not to be a big furry costume type.

Nope! Everyone who is face is also fur. That's just the way of the world. But I think fur would be just as fun and rewarding as face, and probably way easier to get hours too, since there's more roles. One of my good friends used to hang out with Wendy all the time, but her favorite friends were furry.

Unless you're measured at 5'5" (aka dead height) and they love you so much they just want you to do face... but I bet every once in awhile even those in the dead height range do fur too, because everyone does fur.

I figure most male face characters require height but what about Peter Pan? Surely, they get relatively short guys to be him?

I think it depends on what you mean. If you FAIL the interview, they won't invite you to an audition over the phone. An invitation is basically them asking where you'll audition and telling you the date.

If you get an invitation to an audition but when your letter comes, you get a rejection letter, that just means you were rejected for your other roles. You are still able to audition and if you pass, you'll go to Disney for that program. If you don't pass, try again next semester.

My friend who was friends with Wendy said if you're 5'5" you're considered a "tall munk" so you go out and play with another tall munk. But she was only 5'2.5" so she was considered a "short munk".
