Hi I'm leaving this Friday :goodvibes :cheer2: and just wanted to know how the crouds were? Also are the restraunts extreamly busy? hows the weather?

please post your current trip report here!!!

thank you!!

Leaving tomorrow and would second the request. The weather looks like chance of thunderstorms every day. What's that been like lately?

How are the crowds?

I just came home friday :sad2:. Last week the parks emptied out and pretty much every ride was 5 minutes to walk on.

We were there for 3 weeks and the wheather network said thunder everyday and most days it did rain, but only for an hour or so in the afternoon which was nice because it gave us a chance to cool off. You always knew it was comming too because it would get dark and the wind would pick up about 10 minutes before hand, giving you enough time to get indoors/ponchoed up. The first two days we minded the heat, but as the trip progressed we got more used to it. Now that I'm back home in Canada I'm wearing my winter clothes I got so used to it!

The concierge at the hotel also gave us a great tip that if you have a day that's forecast to be rainy all day or most of the day, it's a great time to go to Animal Kingdom. We listened to him and it was the most animals I've seen out and about there yet. I guess they love breaks from the summer heat.

Also the restraunts were not busy and most times if we showed up early for a reservation, we got in right away. The only place that was really busy was mama melroses and we had to wait 10 minutes for a table (which still isn't too bad).

We normally go down to disney in feb. but I definatly liked this time better.

Have fun!!!!

I'm not down there right now....however I go down alot at this time of year (and I used to live in Florida).

When the weather calls for thunderstorms everyday....they mean it HOWEVER....like the poster above me said, it's only for a 1/2 hour to an hour....and here's a tip.....it usually happens between 4 and 4:30. Last year when I went (9/27-10/7) I could literally set my watch by the daily afternoon rain storm....

...of course this doesn't apply if there's a hurricane or tropical storm (which we also got last year) ;)

Also I second the tip about Animal Kingdom in the rain...we got caught on the Kilamanjaro Safari last year in a pretty funky rainstorm and I've NEVER seen so many animals....and their babies!!! It was wet but GREAT!!

HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!

We just got back last night from a week there....I will post a report later but to answer your questions.....

NO lines pretty much anywhere. We walked on to almost everything, and if there was a line we got a FP and came back. Why people would choose to stand in a 40 min line for Peter Pan when they can get a FP and come back in an hour is beyond me.

We had ADR for pretty much every day but at MGM I couldnt get one when I was calling, so I was worried. We walked up to Mama Melroses at 5 and made a res. for 6:30...no problem.

It rained pretty much every day, but usually in the afternoon around 3 or 4 and for about 20 min. We had 2 days where it really rained, one of which was the day we were to see Spectro and Wishes. They did them of course but we had to watch it in the pouring rain. Bring your ponchos and umbrella and plan for it. If it doesnt rain then at least you were ready for it. Also, if you are there a while and have a few choices of days to see those outdoor events like Spectro or Wishes, dont do what we did and wait until the last day to see them. See them the first available day the weather permits you to...just in case. We had no choice but to watch it in the rain or miss them. Had we gone earlier in the week we would not have had to worry about it.

Have a good time! I miss it already!!

I'll second this... is poured Sunday night when we planned to do Spectro. Quite frankly I was surprised they even did Spectro in the rain because it was a waste. They omitted every walking character and all but about 4-5 floats. We got a seriously shortened version! But I'm not complaining cause the crowd levels were awesome!!!

oh I forgot! another thing I noticed while there was that the wait times posted outside of the rides were frequently incorrect. For example last monday Test Track had a 40 minute wait time. We decided to wait it out and it turned out that the line only took 8 minutes from start to end. I don't know why there were descrepencies, but it happened with alot of rides.

Well, the bugs werent bad...yet. Our magical express driver told us on the way back to the airport yesterday that they are just starting to get bad, and will be all over the place in the next week or so. I never knew anything about them, but I am sure glad they werent bad when I was there. I HATE bugs.

Thank you. I am originally from Louisiana, born and raised there until 2002. Because of that, I am very use to the love bugs. I had to deal with them every year in May and September. I have to admit that it has been so nice living away from them. However, I guess I will experience them again on this upcoming trip. They do not bite so they aren't harmful at all. They are just a nuisance because they are everywhere! I was hoping that by us hitting WDW at the end of Sepember then they may have time to die off some. I was hoping that they would be fewer in number. Usually, in Louisiana, they were very heavy at the beginning of September. I can specifically remember because DD's birthday is September 8 and I would always have to deal with them at her birthday parties!! So with us going to WDW the last week of September I was just hoping for a break. Oh well, I have read a few places on this board that they are just breaking out in FL so I guess we will see the love bugs.
Thanks for the warning. They love white. They swarm white. So I will make sure that we don't pack white clothes at all.

I live in Florida, about 1 1/2 hours from Disney.
Today and Thurs. will be rain. Thurs 70%. But Friday and the rest of the week the news says that it will be only about 20% for the next 5 days. But this is Florida. You may have a rain on one side of the park and not the other. :thumbsup2

I was just there last weekend and crowds were the lowest I've seen since the last major recession. We got to Epcot at 10am and found a 10 min. wait posted for Soarin'. It stayed at 10-15 minutes until we left at 1pm.
At the MK, we had a 10 min. wait for Dumbo at 8:45am, no waits at all for Winnie, PP, Buzz, TTA - all before 11am. POTC posted and really was 20 mins. BTMRR was 10 mins. at 1pm.
Rain is your best friend this time of year - clouds keep the heat down some and rain can drive people out of the park. Don't follow them! Grab your umbrella and/or poncho and keep touring!
Saw a few love bugs, not many yet.
Restaurants were iffy. We got in with no ADR's at Boatwright's, but found Cosmic Ray's absolutely packed at 11:45am Sunday. POFQ food court was almost empty at 7:15am and 12:30pm.

We just got back after a week at AKL. Just to give you an idea about crowds, on Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 the fastpass machines were closed and covered and the standby line said '0' at ....... SOARIN'......... I couldn't believe my eyes!!!!! Test Track, Mission Space, and everything in Future World was a walk-on. The weather was hot, but not as hot and humid as I remember from last August. We encountered no waits or lines on anything all week. We had ADRs and were seated within 10 minutes of checking in. Yes, it rained several times at night. But it cooled things off and cleared out the few who were in the parks. Yea for the week after Labor Day!!!!

Babs

I second all this. We just got home Yesterday :sad2: , hardly any lines at all. It was great! We even changed our ADR's a few times , and got new ones.
